AN ORDINANCE relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and
pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of construction of lateral
sanitary sewer in Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Numbered 347, and relating to and providing

for collection and payment of such assessments.
! BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:

Section 1. That for the purpose of paying for the cost of building and constructing
lateral sanitary sewers in Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Numbered 347 and as authorized by

the provisions of Ordinance Number 6060, the cost of which has been duly aseett&ined,as sbown
i by the City Engineer's final estimate of cost, which has been duly approved by the Board of
i
Commissioners, there are hereby levied and assessed on the property liable therefor, being all
i

the lots and pieces of ground lying in the sewer districts mentioned above as created by

Ordinance 6060, according to the appraised value of such lots and pieces of ground without
regard to the buildings or improvements thereon, special assessments covering the cost of
such improvements constructed in said sewer district, said special assessments being based
on the special valuation and appraisement made by three disinterested appraisers appointed
by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas, which said appraisement is
hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance and the several amounts levied, and
apportioned against the cost of improvements constructed in such district being hereby
found and determined to be as set forth in the following sections of this ordinance.
Section 2. That for the purpose of the payment of the cost of constrction of Lateral
Sanitary Sewer Number 347, an eight inch clay pipe sewer, beginning at an: -existing manhole in
! the center line of Republic and 60 feet west of the canter line of Broadway Boulevard; thence.
south parallel.to center line of said Broadway Boulevard 209.0 feet where Manhole No, 1 will
be oanstructed; thence east across Broadway Boulevard and through casement for utilities
along the north side of Lot 8, Sunset Village Addition 244.8 feet to the canter line of
Windsor Drive where Manhole No. 2 will be constructed where Branch No. 1 of Lateral 347 goes
south and Lateral 347 continues east through casements on the north line of Lots 6 and 7 of
Sunset Village Addition 226.0 feet to the center line of Vassar Drive where Manhole No. 3
will be constructed; thence south along the center line of Vassar Drive to the intersection of
said center line with the center line of Dover Drive where Manhole No. 4 will be constructed
and Branch No. 2 goes south; thence east along center line of Dover Drive to its intersection'
with the center line of Dover Drive where Manhole No. 5 will be constructed thence south
along Dover Drive with Branch No. 3 to a point 5 feet south of the north line of Lot 25,
Sunset Village Addition where a manhole will be built which terminates branch No. 3 of Lateral 347.

Branch No. 1 of Lateral 347 begins at Manhole No. 2 heretofore described and continues
southerly along the center line of Windsor Drive to a point 5 feet north of the north line
of Lot 24, Sunset Village Addition where a manhole will be built which terminates Branch No. 11
of Lateral 347.
Branch No. 2 of Lateral 347 begins at Manhole No, 4 heretofore described thence southerly
along the center line of Vassar Drive to a point 5 feet south of the north line of Lot 45,
Sunset Village Addition where a manhole will be built which terminated Branch No. 2 of
Lateral 347, the amount levied, apportioned and assessed against the lots and pieces of
ground in said district are found and determined to be as follows;

Section 3. Said amounts levied, apportioned and assessed as aforedaid shall be the due
and collectible in Ten equal installments, the first becoming due with the taxes levied for
the year 1957, and one of said installments fallingdue each and every y year thereafter until
all are paid, all to be collected with interest as in this ordinance provided, however, that
the arner of any piece or parcel of property liable for any such assessment may redeem his
property from any such assessment liability by paying into the City Treasury the entire amount
the bonds hereafter to be issued for the payment of the remaining unpaid cost of such improvements,
such rate to be hereafter determined and fixed by ordinance when such bonds are issued, on all
of said installments mentioned and provided for in this ordinance, from the date of the bonds
which may be issued at the end of thirty days, as specified in the preceding section hereof as
by law provided, to the time of collection of the last installment as provided by law, which
said interest shall be collected annually at the same time and in the same manner as said install-
ments are collected, and after the taking effect of this ordinance and the fixing of the interest
rate when such bonds are authorized and issued, it shall be hhe duty of the City Clerk of said'
f city to annually at the same time other taxes are certified, to certify to the County Clerk of l

Salina County, Kansas, a full list of all property liable to assessment and taxation for such
work and improvements, except such property on which the special assessments aforesaid have
been paid in full as hereinbefore provided, together with the respective amounts due on each
of such lots and pieces of ground, which amounts shall include the annual installments of
such special assessments together with the interest at one year at the rate to be fixed and
provided for in this Ordinance, being the rate borne by the bonds to be issued on all unpaid
,balances of such assessments and such amounts so certified as herein provided shall be placed
upon the tax roll by the County Clerk of Saline,County, Kansas and collected as all other taxes
;are collected.
