ORDINANCE NUMBER 6076

AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with C. N. McCollum doing business as
McCollum Construction Company for the construction of a storm sewer in the City of Salina,
Kansas, heretofore designated as Southern View Addition Storm Sewer, and providing for the
issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof, pending issuance and sale of bonds.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:

Section 1. That the acceptance of the City of Salina, Kansas, of the proposal of the
McCollum Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "Contractor" as submitted to

the Board of Commissioners on July 10, 1956, which is hereby found to be the lowest and best
bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the Board of Commissioners of said City to
said contractor and signed on behalf of the City by its Mayor on July 24, 1956 for the
construction of certain public improvements in the City of Salina, Kansas, to -wit:
A 60 inch pipe sewer beginning with a concrete storm sewer outfall
located at a point on the Smoky Hill River 1200 feet north by 40004
east of the SW corner of the NW 1/4 of Section 30, Township 14 south
Range 2 east of the 6th P.M. in Saline County, Kansas, thence south
i west to the SW corner of the NW 1/4 of the above described Section,
where Manhole No. 1 will be constructed, thence west along the center
line of Wayne Avenue extended east 2000 feet where Manhole No. 2 will
be constructed, thence a 24" sewer will run north in the R/W from
i Norton Street 1020 feet to the intersection of Norton Street and
Leslie Avenue where Manhole No. 3 will be constructed, thence a 24"
sewer will extend north 300 feet to the intersection of Norton Street
and Albert Avenue where Manhole No. 4 will be constructed, thence a
w 24" sewer will extend north 296 feet to the intersection of Norton
Street and Carl Avenue, where Manhole No. 5 will be constructed,
thence a 21" sewer will extend north 268 feet to the intersection of
Norton Street and Ralph Avenue where Manhole No. 6 will be construc-
ted, thence a 21" sewer will extend north 260 feet to the intersec-
tion of Norton Street and Max Avenue, where Manhole No. 7 will be
constructed thence a 18" sewer will be extended north 300 feet where
Manhole No. 8 will be constructed.
Branches will be constructed both east and west from manholes 3, 41
5, 6, and 7 more particularly described as follows:
Branch 1: a 15 inch pipe beginning at Manhole No. 3 extended east
300 feet where a manhole will be constructed and a 15 inch pipe
extended 300 feet west from Manhole No- 3 where a manhole will be
constructed.
Branch 2: A 15 inch pipe beginning at Manhole No. 4 extending east
300 feet where a manhole will be constructed and a 18" pipe extending
300 feet west from Manhole No. 4 where a manhole will be constructed.
f Branch 3: A 15 inch pipe beginning at Manhole No. 5 extending east
300 feet where a manhole will be constructed and a 15 inch pipe
extending 300 feet west from Manhole No. 5 where a manhole will be
constructed.
Branch 4: A 15 inch pipe beginning at Manhole No. 6 extending east
220 feet where a manhole will be constructed and a 15 inch pipe
extending 300 feet west from Manhole No. 6 where a manhole will be
constructed
Branch 5: A 15 inch pipe beginning at Manhole No. 7 extending east
i 220 feet where a manhole will be constructed and a 18 inch pipe
extending 300 feet west from Manhole No. 6 where a manhole will be
constructed:

at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal and con-
tract are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance, be and the same is hereby
ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated cost of said improvements
as shown by the sworn estimate of the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk
which estimate is hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance.
Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance with the
plans and specifications therefore prepared by the City Engineer on file in the office of
the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said contractor and under the terms
of said contract, all of which are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance.
Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attest by the City Clerk be
issued from time to time as the work progresses in the manner and form as required by law,
the total amount thereof not to exceed the amount of $139,275.00 for such work, such notes
to bear interest at not to exceed 42 per cent per annum and to mature not later than
December 1, 1957, and to be issued in such amounts and at such times as may the money for
the payment of the cost of such work be required, such notes to be issued to said contractor
and to be redeemed and cancelled at the time that Internal Improvement Bonds are issued in
lieu thereof.
Section 4.
That this
ordinance
shall take effect and be in full force from and after
its publication
once in the
official
city paper.
