AN ORDINANCE CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF
SALINA, KANSAS, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED ELEC.,
TORS OF SAID CITY THE PROPOSITION TO ISSUE THE GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS
OF THE CITY IN THE AMOUNT OF 0375,000 FOR THE PURPOSE OF ACQUIRING
ADDITIONAL LAND TO ENLARGE THE PRESENT MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, DEVELOPING
AND EQUIPPING SAID AIRPORT FOR AVIATION PURPOSES, AND ALL THINGS INCI-
DENTAL TI1RETO, THE PROCEEDS OF SAID BONDS TO BE USED IN CONJUNCTION
WITH A GRANT FROM THE UNITED STATES IN THE APPROXIMATE AMOUNT OF
$375,000.
WHEREAS, in the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of the
City of Salina, Kansas, the public safety, service and welfare can be
advanced by acquiring additional land to enlarge the present municipal
airport, developing and equipping said airport for aviation purposes,
and all things incidental thereto; and
WHEREAS, the total cost of said improvements will be in the
amount of $750,000; and
WHEREAS, the United States Government will contribute approx-
imately one half of the cost of said improvements; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to issue the general obligation
bonds of said city to pay that portion of the cost to be paid by the
city, which will be in the amount of $375000; and
WHEREAS, the issuance of said bonds will not create a bonded
indebtedness in excess of the limit now provided by law; and
SO NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners
of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the preambles of this ordinance are hereby
incorporated herein and that an election is hereby called and ordered
to be held in the City of Salina, Kansas, on 'Tuesday, August 7, 1956,
between the hours of 6:00 o'clock A.M. and 7:00 o'clock P.M. of said
day, at the time of the regular primary election, for the purpose of
submitting to the qualified voters of said city the proposition to
issue the general obligation bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas, in
the amount of $375,000 for the purpose of acquiring additional land to
enlarge the present municipal airport, developing and equipping said
airport for aviation purposes, and all things incidental thereto, the
proceeds of said bonds to be used in conjunction with a grant from the
United States in the approximate amount of $375000; that such election
shall be held at the usual places of holding elections, to -wit:

Kansas, 1949.
