Prudential Savin9s Association purchased the property at 600 South Santa Fe in Salina for the purpose of erecting a new office building to house the Association's Salina office. Subsequent to this purchase, application was submitted to the Governing Body of the CIty of Salina for rezoning of this property from MC" to "00" classi- ftcation, This application was referred to the Planning Connission which reported favorably upon it, In January of 1967 this property was offitial1y rezoned "DO", At the thle this application was considered, although it was ap- proved. some concern tlas expressed by members of the Planning Conmission that a traffic problem could result on Prescott Avenue as a result of automobiles .stacking up' upon approaching the proposed drive-in windoli as shown on the plot plan submitted. Because of the desire of the managerr.ent of Prudential Savings to avoid the possible creation of this traffic problem and the desire to provide its customers with a lIIaxhum of convenience and safety, construction of the building as originally proposed tlas delayed. Recently. Prudential Savings Associ ation contracted to purchase the property at 614 South Santa Fe, which is bmediately adjacent to the south of 600 South Santa Fe. The purpose of this purchase was threefold, Alter;ng the original plot pli!n to util i ze this land will enable Prudential to ø¡ve its drive-in windo\1 farther froll1 Prescott Avenue and thereby al- leviate the proble¡:¡ previously It"-ntioned. It will e.,able Prudential to provide even t'Ore off-street J3rldng in relation to building size than in the original plan. Also utilization of this land will enable Prudential to rove its building back from Santa Fe and south from Prescott and provide in a greater BJeasure the residential atmosphere desired. The original plot ~1an provided for off-street J3rking of 5,6 cars per thousand square feet of building. The revised plot plan incorporating the property at 614 South Santa Fe provides parking for 7.85 cars per thousand square feel of building. Since this far exceeds the minimum re- quircl<!nts it is felt that the p3rking provided under the revised plan l1Ould be ik)re than a~cqllJle to r,'cet future d~"'Jnds. In so much as the Planning Comlssion and Governing Body of th:! City of Salina saw fit to rezone the property at 600 South Santa-Fe to .00. and in so IJ'Uch as the utilization of the property at 614 Soul'! Santa Fe can only serve to enhance the beauty and convenience of the building and provide hl )roved traffic now, it is requested that this application be favorably acted upon, Respectfully Subml tted, PRI/DEi'lTlAI..
