IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas;
Section I& For the purpose of paying for that part of the cost of improvements in
in portions of certain streets as hereinafter set forth in the following sections of this
which is chargeable to the private property in the assessment districts for each of

buildings or improvements thereon, special assessments covering the cost of such work and
improvements, said special assessments being based on the special valuation and appraisement
of said lots and pieces of ground heretofore made by three disinterested appraisers appointed
j by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas, with respect to each such
improvement, which said appraisements are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinanc4,
and the several amounts so levied, apportioned and assessed against the lots and pieces of
ground for each such improvement, respectively, for the purpose aforesaid, are hereby found
and determined to be the amounts set forth in the following sections of this ordinance with
respect to each ofsaidimprovements.
Section 2. For that part of the cost of excavating, grading and paving Court Place
(twenty-eight (28)feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter) with concrete from the south
line of Ellsworth Avenue to the south line of Jewell Avenue, which is chargeable against the
private property within the district chargeable therefore, and which cost is hereby determines}
to be $3,879,48, there is hereby levied, apportioned and assessed against the following

Section 27. Said amounts so levied, apportioned and assessed as aforesaid will be due
and collectible in ten equal installments, the first becoming due with the taxes levied for thii

year 1957, and one of said installments falling due each and every year thereafter until all
are padd and all to be collected with interest as in this ordinance provided, HOWEVER, that the
owner of any piece of property liable for any such assessment may redeem his property from such
liability by paying to the City Treasury the entire amount chargeable against the same, as in
this ordinance provided, at any time within thirty days after the publication of this ordinance
and before the issuance of bonds of said city in payment of the balance of the cost of said

improvements, the property so paid on shall not hereafter be liable for any further assessments

for the cost of said improvements nor for any part of said bonds.

Section 28. There is hereby levied further and assessed against such lots and pieces of'.
ground described in 'this ordinance, interest at such rate per annum as shall be borne by the
bonds hereafter to be issued for the payment of the remaining unpaid cost of such improvements
to be hereafter determined and fixed by ordinance when such bonds are issued, on all of said
installments mentioned and provided for in this ordinance, from the date of the bonds which
may be issued at the end of thirty days as specified in the preceding sections hereof, as by
law provided, to the time of the collection of the installment as provided by law, which said
interest shall be collected annually at the same time and in the same manner as said installments
are collected and after the taking effect of this ordinance and the fixing of the said interest
rate when such bonds are authorized and issued, it shall be the duty of the City Clerk of taidl
City to annually at the same time other taxes are certified and until all of said assessments
so apportioned and levied have been certified to the County Clerk of Saline County, Kansas, a
full list of all property liable to assessment and taxation for such work and improvement,
except such property on which the special assessments aforesaid have been paid in full as
hereinbefore provided, together with the respective amounts doe on each of said lots and
pieces of ground which amounts shall include the annual installments of such special assessmen s

together with the interest for one year at the rate to be fixed as provided for in thie ordina ce,

on all unpaid balances of such assessments, and such amounts ao certified as herein provided
shall be placed upon the tax roll by the County Clerk of Saline County, Kansas, and collected
