6129 Street ImprovementsCON SOLID 1 TED-SALINA 1 1 ORDINANCE NUMBER 6129 (Published in The Salina Journal , 1957) AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with Brown and Brown, Inc. for the construction of certain paving and grading improvements on certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issuance afid sale of bonds. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina, Kansas, of the proposal of the Brown and Brown Construction Co., Inc. hereinafter referred to as the "Contractor` as submitted to the Board of Commissioners on March 26, 1957, which is hereby found to be the lowest and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the Board of Commissioners of said City to said contractor and signed on behalf of the City by its Mayor on April 2, 1957, for the construction of certain public improvements in the City of Salina, Kansas, to -wit: Curbing, guttering, and grading of the north side of Beloit Avenue from the center line of Lewis Avenue to the center line of Roach Street; and the paving and grading of Beloit Avenue (twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of, gutter) with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the east line of Roach Street to the east line of Lewis Avenue, as provided for by Resolution Number 1764 and Ordinance Number 6124. Curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Haskett Avenue (thirty-two (32) feet wide from face of curb to face of curb) with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the south line of Cloud Street to the south line of Willis Avenue, as provided for by Resolution Number 1788 and Ordinance Number 6124. Curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Ingman Road (thirty-two (32) feet wide from face of curb to face of curb) with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the west line of Page Avenue to the south line extended of Lot 18, Block 6, Ingermanson Heights, Ci#y of Salina, Kansas, as provided for by Resolution Number 1791 and Ordinance Number 6124. Paving and grading of Lewis Avenue (twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter) with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base from the south side of Claflin Avenue to the south side of Russell Avenue, as provided for by Resolution Number 1763 and Ordinance Number 6124. Paving and grading of Lewis Avenue (twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe Of gutter ) with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch erushed rock base, from f the north line of Ellsworth Avenue to the south line of Minneapolis Avenue, as provided for by Resolution Number c 1776 and Ordinance Number 6124. Paving and grading of Mellinger Drive (twen-ty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter) with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the east line of Lewis Avenue to the west line of Ohio Avenue, as provided for by Resolution Number 1786 and Ordinance Number 6124. Curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Page Avenue (thirty-two (32) feet wide from face of curb to face of curb) with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the north line of Willis Avenue to the east line of Roberts Avenue, as provided for by Resolution Number 1790 and Ordinance Number 6124. Curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Roberts Avenue (thirty-two (32) feet wide from face of curb to face of curb) with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the south line of Cloud Street to the south line extended of Lot 2, Block 1, Ingermanson Heights, City of Salina, Kansas, as provided for by Resolution Number 1792 and Ordinance Number 6124. i Paving and grading of Russell Avenue (twenty-eight feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter) with two �28) 2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch rolled rock base, from the east line of Lewis Avenue 298.73 feet east, as provided for by Resolution Number 1752 and Ordinance Number 6124. Curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Willis Avenue (thirty-two (32) feet wide from face of curb to face off` curb) with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the west line of Haskett Avenue to the west line of Page Avenue, as provided for by Resolution Number 1789 and Ordinance Numher 6124. Resurfacing of Crawford Avenue with two (2) inch hot mixed l asphaltic concrete from the west line of Santa Fe to the east line of Ninth Street, as provided for by Resolution Number 1785 and Ordinance Number 6124. Resurfacing of Ninth Street with two (2) inch hot mixed asphaltic concrete from the south line of Republic to the south line of Jewell Avenue, as provided for by Resolution Number 1784 and Ordinance Number 6124. Resurfacing of Santa Fe Avenue with two (2) inch hot mixed asphaltic concrete from the north line of Crawford Avenue to the north line of Claflin Avenue, as provided for by Resolution Number 1783 and Ordinance Number 6124. at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal and contract are hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance, be and the same is hereby ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated cost of said improvements as shown by the sworn estimates of the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk, which estimates are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance. Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance with the plans and specifications therefore prepared by the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said contractor and under the terms of said contract, all of which are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk be issued from time to time as the work progressed in the manner and form as required by law,, the total amount thereof not to Exceed the amount of $122,696.75, for such work, such notes to bear interest not to exceed 42 per cent per annum and to mature not later than December l,! 1957, and to be issued in such amounts and at such time as money for the payment of the cost of such notes being issued to said contractor and to be redeemed and cancelled at the time that permanent bonds are issued in lieu thereof. Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication onee in the official city paper.
