ORDINANCE NUMBER 6119

AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with C. N. McCollum doing business as
McCollum Construction Company for the construction of a certain main sanitary sewer and
lateral sanitary sewers in the City of Salina, Kansas, heretofore designated as Main
Sanitary Sewer "AD" and Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts 354, 355, and 3$6, and providing for
the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof, pending issuance and sale of bonds.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the acceptance of the City of Salina, Kansas, of the proposal of the
McCollum Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "Contractor" as submitted to
the Board of Commissioners on January 29, 1957, which is hereby found to be the lowest and
best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the Board of Commissioners of said City
to said contractor and signed on behalf of the City by its Mayor on February 5, 1957, for the
construction of certain public improvements in the City of Salina, Kansas, to -wit:
A ten inch clay pipe sewer beginning at a manhole that
will be constructed at the end of Branch 1, Lateral Sewer 354,
which will be 10 feet north of the center line of Wayne Avenue,
and the center line of first easement west of Norton Avenue,
thence west along a line 10 feet north of the center line of
Wayne Avenue to a point 10 feet east of the center line of
Highland Avenue which will be terminus of Main "AD".
Branch I. A ten inch clay pipe sewer beginning at a 10 inch
stub line 20 feet west of an existing manhole which is 20 feet
east of the west line of Norton Street and 52 feet south of the
north line of Leslie Avenue; thence west 128.1 feet where a manhole
will be built; thence south along a line which is one foot west
of the east line of easement for utilities to the center line of
Wayne Avenue where a manhole will be built which will be the
terminus of Branch 1 of Lateral 354•
Branch 2. A ten inch clay pipe sewer beginning at a 10 inch
stub line 40 feet vast of an existing manhole which is 20 feet
east of the west line of Norton Street and 52 feet youth of
the north line of Leslie Avenue; thence east 141.6 feet where a
Manhole will be build; thence south with an eight inch clay
pipe sewer one foot west of the east line of the easement for
utilities to the center line of Wayne Avenue where a manhole
will be built which will be ther terminus of Branch 2 of Lateral 354•
An eight inch clay pipe sewer beginning at an existing manhole
which is on easement first north of Russell Avenue and in
Block 1, Countryside Addition, 25 feet east of the west
line of Lot 5, in said block; thence east 43 feet; thence
north 31 feet thence east 157 feet where a manhole will be
constructed which will be terminus of Lateral 355•
An eight inch clay pipe sewer beginning at a manhole that will
be constructed at the end of Main "AD" which will be 10 feet
north of the center line of Wayne Avenue and 10 feet east of the
center line of Highland Avenue, thence north on a line 10 feet
east of the center line of Highland Avenue to a point 22 feet
south of the center line of Leslie Avenue where a manhole will be
constructed, thence west on a line 22 feet youth of the center line
of Leslie Avenue to a point due north of the BE corner of Lot 1,
Block 1, Gebhart Manor Addition to the City of Salina, Kansas,
where a lamp hole will be constructed which will be terminus
of Lateral 356.

at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal and

contract are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance, be and the same is hereby

ratified and donfirmed, said proposal belong within the estimated cost of said improvements as
shown by the sworn estimate of the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk which'
estimate is hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance.

Section 2. Said Improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance with the plana
I and specifications therefore prepared by the City Engineer on file in the office of the City

Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said contractor and under the terms of said
contract, all of which are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance.
Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attest by the City Clerk be
issued from time to time as the work progresses in the manner and form as required by law,
to total amount thereof not to exceed the contract price of $39,738.60 for such work, such
notes to bear interest at not to exceed 42 per cent per annum and to mature not later than
(December 1, 1957, and to be issued in such amounts and at such times as may the money for the

(payment of the cost of such work be required, such notes to be issued to said contractor and
jto be redeemed and cancelled at the time that Internal Improvement Bonds are issued in lieu
!thereof.

I Section 4. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after
lits publication once in the official city Paper.
