AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with C. N. McCollum doing busineas as
McCollum Construction Company for the construction of a Lateral Sanitary Sewer, Main Sanitary
Sewer and Pumping Station in the City of Salina, Kansas, heretofore designated as Lateral
Sanitary Sewer 373; Main Sanitary Sewer "AF" and Pumping Station, and providing for the
issuance of Temporary Notes to pay the cost thereof, pending the issuance and sale of bonds.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the acceptance of the City of Salina, Kansas, of the proposal of the
McCollum Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "Contractor" as submitted to
the Board of Commissioners on May 27, 1958, which is hereby found to be the lowest and best
bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the Board of Commissioners of said City to
said contractor and signed on behalf of the City by its Mayor on June 3, 1958, for the
construction of certain public improvements in the City of Salina, Kansas, to -wit:
An eight inch cast iron force main beginning at an
existing manhole at the intersection of Iron Avenue
and Marymount Road; thence south along the west side
of Marymount Road 920 feet, more or less, to the south
line of Greeley Avenue where a pump station will be
constructed which will be the terminus of Main "AF"
An eight inch clay pipe sewer, beginning at a pumping
station to be constructed at the southwest corner of the
intersection of Greeley Avenue and Marymount Road; thence
south 180 feet; thence west along Ruskin Road and 20 feet
north of the south line thereof to the intersection of said
Ruskin Road and Claremont Drive; thence south 20 feet from
the east line of Claremont Drive 310 feet to the intersection
of Claremoht Drive with Queens Road, which will be terminus
of Lateral 373•

Construction of a pumping station for the purpose of pumping
and diverting the sewage of Main Sewer "AF" and extensions
thereof into a Sanitary Sewer Force Main the existing sewer
location at the intersection of Iron Avenue and Marymount
Road in order to conduct the sewage of Main Sewer "AP" to
a point of outlet at the Sewage treatment Plant.
at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal and
contract are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance, be and the se -me is
hereby ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated cost of said
improvements as shown by the sworn estimates of the City Engineer on file in the office of
the City Clerk which estimate is hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance.
Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance with the
pland and specifications therefore prepared by the City Engineer on file in the office of
the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposals of said contractor and under the terms of
said contract, all of which are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance.
Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attest by the City Clerk be
issued from time to time as the work progresses in the manner and form as required W law,
the total amount thereof not to exceed the amount of $28,950.00 for such work, such notes
to bear interest at not to exceed 5 per cent per annum and to mature not later than December
1, 1959, and to be issued in such amounts and tt such times as may the money for the
payment of the cost of such work be required, such notes to be issued to said contractor and
to be redeemed and cancelled at the time that Internal Improvement Bonds are issued in lieu
thereof.
Section 4. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after
its publication once in the official city paper.
