ORDINANCE NUMBER 6215

AN ORDINANCE levying special assessments against certain property to pay the cost of
constructing certain sidewalks in the parking abutting the following property to -wit:
North parking of Republic Avenue in said city and abutting Lots 9, 10, 19 and 20 in Block 1,
in Replat of Blocks 3, 4, 5, and 6 of Hageman Park Addition, City of Salina, Saline County,
Kansas;the South parking of Ellsworth Avenue in said city and abutting Lots 10, 11, 12,
13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18 in Block 2, Claflin Addition to the Grounds of K. W. U.; the North
parking of Jewell Avenue in said city and abutting Lots 1, 2, and 5 in Block 2, Claflin
Addition to the Grounds of K. W. U.; the West parking of Ohio Street in said city and
abutting Lots 9 and 10 in Block 2, Claflin Addition to the Grounds of K. W. U.; the South
parking of Jewell Avenue in said city and ai►utting Lots 12 and 19 in Block 2, Bailey Heights
addition; the East parking of Lewis Street in said city and abutting Lots 19 and 2, Block 2,
Bailey Heights Addition; the North parking of Kirwin Avenue in said City and abutting Lots
2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 in Block 2, Bailey Heights Addition; the West parking of Ohio Street
in said city and abutting Lots 9, 10, 11, 12 in Block 2, Bailey Heights Addition; the North
parking of Ellsworth Avenue in said city and abutting Lots 16, 18, and 20 and 15 feet of
vacated alley (ordinance Number 1266) on Ellsworth Avenue, Grounds of K. W. U. City of Salina,
Saline County, Kansas; concrete sidewalk in the east parking of Gebhart Street, City of
Salina, Kansas, abutting Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) 6, 7, 81 9, 10 in Block 5, Kraft Manor Addition
!, Number 2, and concrete sidewalk in the west parking of Gebhart Street, City of Salina, Kansas
abutting Lots 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 in Block 4, Kraft Manor Addition
Number 2.
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners have, by Resolution Numbers 1818, 1842, 1853, 1862, caused
to be notified, the owners of the property hereinafter described to cause their respective
portion of said sidewalks to be constructed at their own expense and have fulfilled all
conditions precedent to the construction of said sidewalks.

WHEREAS, the owners of the property hereinafter described did not within 30 days as required
by Resolutions Numbered 1818, 1842, 1853, and 1862, cause said sidewalks to be constructed
and the City caused said sidewalks to be constructed pursuant to Chapter 12, Article 18,
General Statutes of Kansas, 1949, and the cost thereof has been ascertained, SO NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That there be and there is hereby levied and assessed against thia lots
hereinafter described an assessment for the purpose of paying the cost of constructing said
sidewalks, taxable against the following described lots in the amount set opposite said lots:

Section 2. That the owner o o p p y Y
(30) days after the publication of this ordinance within which to make full payment.
Section 3. That the City Clerk is directed to mail a notice not less khan fifteen days
prior to the end of the thirty (30) days to the owner of the property as shown on the records
of the office of the Register of Deeds.
Section 4. That if full payment of the assessment made in Section 1 of this ordinance
is not made within thirty days after the publication of this ordinance, the City Clerk is
hereby directed and authorized to certify said assessments to the County Clerk of Saline
County, Kansas, to be placed on the tax roll for collection, in Four installments, starting
with the year 1958, and subject to the same penalties and collected in like manner as other
taxes.

Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its
publication once in the official city paper.
