6188 Street ImprovementsI� 1 i CONSOLIDATED-SALINA j !I i j ORDINANCE NUMBER 6188 j (Published in The Salina Journal 0c 1-G4),e 1-- % , 1957) AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with Brown and Brown, Inc. for the construction of certain paving and grading improvements on certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina, Kansas, of the proposal of the I� Brown and Brown Construction Company, Inc. hereinafter referred to as the "Contractor" as submitted to the Board of Commissioners on September 24, 1957, which is hereby found to be the lowest and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the Board of Commissioners of said City to said contractor and signed on behalf of the City by its Mayor on October 1, 1957,' for the construction of certain public improvements in the City of Salina, Kansas, to -wit: Paving and grading of Lewis Avenue (twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter) with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the south line of Russell Avenue to the north line of Cloud Street, as provided for by Resolution Number 1856 and Ordinance Number 6181. Paving and grading of Ralph Avenue (twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter) with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the east line of Quincy Street to the west line of Norton Street, as provided for by Resolution Number 1850 and Ordinance Number 6181. Curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Smith Avenue (thirty- three (33) feet wide from back of curb to back of curb) with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the east line of Haskett to the west line of US 81 By-pass, Broadway Boulevard, as provided for by Resolution Number 1851 and Ordinance Number 6181. Paving and grading of Second Street with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six inch crushed rock base, from the north line of Iron Avenue 250 feet North, as provided for by Resolution Number 1865 and Ordinance Number 6181. Paving and grading of Windsor Drive with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the south line of Republic Avenue to the west line of Dover Drive, as provided for by Resolution Number 1863 and Ordinance Number 6181. Curbing, guttering, and grading of the East side of Lewis Avenue from the north line of Beloit Avenue to the north line of Minneapolis Avenue, as provided for by Resolution Number 1864 and Ordinance Number 6181. Curbing, guttering and grading of Highland Avenue, from the south line of High Place to the south line of Wayne Avenue, as provided for by Resolution Number 1859 and Ordinance Number 6181. at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal and contract, are hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance, be and the same is hereby ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated cost of said improvements as shown by the sworn estimates of the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk, which estimates are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinancw. Said Improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance with the plans and specifications therefore prepared by the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said contractor and under the terms of said contract, all of which are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance. Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the ,Mayor and attested by the City Clerk be issued from time to time as the work progresses in the manner and form as required by law, the total amount thereof not to exceed the amount of $47,765.00, for such work, such notes to bear I interest not to exceed 5 per cent par annum and to mature not later than December 1, 1958, and to be issued in such amounts and at such times as money for the payment of the cost of such notes being issued to said contractor and to be redeemed and cancelled at the time that permanent bonds are issued in lieu thereof. Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publicatipn once in the official city paper.
