AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with the Bram and Brown Construction
Company for the esebtruetion of certain improvements on certain streets in the City of Salina
1Gensas, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending
the Issuance vi Sala of beads.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina, Kansas, of the proposal of the
Brown and Brown Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "Contractor" as
submitted to the Board of Commissioners on August 5, 1958, which is hereby found to be the
lowest and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the Board of Commissioners
of the City to said Contractor and signed on behalf of the City by its Mayor on August 12,
1958, for the construction of certain public improvements in the City of Salina, Kansas, to -wit:
Paving with six (6) inch reinforced concrete all streets
in Sunset Manor Addition except those on the east side
of Broadway Boulevard.
Paving with six (6) inch reinforced concrete all
streets in Edgemere Addition except Willow and
Redwood Drive from tot Thirteen (13), Block five
(5) South, Birch Drive from tot Ten (10), Block
Right (8) South, Hemlock Drive from Lot Eight (8)
Block Nine (9) South, and Cherokee from Pueblo to
Republic Street.
Paving with six (6) inch reinforced concrete of all
streets in Likins-Foster Addition except Oak Street
from Pawnee Midway to Bachtold Avenue.
Paving with seven (7) inch reinforced concrete of
Crawford Avenue from the west line of Steahlin
j Avenue to the West line of Edgemere Addition.

at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal and
contract are hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance, be and the same is hereby
i ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated cost of said improvements
as shown by the sworn estimates of the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk,

which estimates are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance.

Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance with the plans
j and specifications therefore prepared by the City Engineer on file in the office of the City f
Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said contractor and under the terms of said
contract, all of which are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance.
Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk be
issued from time to time as the work progresses in the manner and form as required by law,
the total amount thereof not to exceed the amount of 383,257.60 for such work, such notes to
bear interest not to exceed 5 per cent per annum and to mature not later than December 1, 1959,

and to be issued in such amounts and at such times as money for the payment of the cost of
such notes being issued to said contractor and to be redeemed and cancelled at the time that
permanent bonds are issued in lieu thereof.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its adoption
and publication once in the official city paper.
