6494 Street ImprovementsCON SOLIDATED-SALINA 1 1 1 I ORDINANCE NUMBER (Published in The Salina Journal NtV�� A--"1 , 1960) AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with Brown and Brown Construction Company, for the construction of Oakdale Avenue and North Ohio Street Smoky Hill River Crossings, as designated and authorized by Resolution Numbers 2328 and 2329, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof, pending the issuance and sale of bonds. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That the acceptance of the City of Salina, of the proposal of the Brown Brown Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "Contractor" as submitted to the Board of Commissioners on November 15, 1960, in the amount of $135,139,60, which is hereby found to be the lowest and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the Board of Commissioners of said City to said Contractor and signed on behalf of the City by its Mayor on November 22, 1960 for the construction of certain public improvements in the City of Salina, Kansas, to -wit: 1. Scope. Work to be done consists of furnishing all labor, construction equipment, materials and performing all operations required to construct Oakdale Avenue and North Ohio Street Smoky Hill River Crossings, including dewatering bf the construction Sites, construction of a 12' by 12' by 144' reinforced concrete box, a 44 foot roadway width continuous reinforced concrete slab bridge 137'6" in length with pile bent piers and abutments, compacted embankments, concrete pavement, bituminous pavement, monolithic curb, walks, inlets and manhole; installation of drainage pipes, chain link fencing, guide posts, and stone riprap; removal of existing bridges and other obstructions interfering with new construction; preparation and cleanup of the site; including disposal of excess materials and removal of unused items and waste, together with all miscellaneous and incidental work required to complete each crossing, ready for use and service. 2. Location. The sites of the work are located *ithin the City Limits of Salina, Kansas, exact locations being as indicated on the drawings 3. Drawings. The drawings governing and controlling the work and to which reference is made throughout these specifications consist of 17 sheets dated October 1960, identified under Project Number 155-86L, titled and indexed as follows: at and for the unit price for said wokk contained in said proposal, which proposal and contract are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance, be and the same is hereb ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated cost of said improvements as shown by the sworn estimate of the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk which estimate is hereby referred and made a part of this ordinance. CONSOLIDATED-SALINA D D Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance with the plans and specifications therefore prepared by the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said contractor and under the terms of said contract, all of which are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance. Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attest by the City Clerk be issued from time to time as the work progresses in the manner and form as required by law, the total amount thereof not to exceed the amount of $135,139.60 for such work, such notes to bear interest at not to exceed 5 per cent per annum and to mature not later than Decemb 1, 1961, and to be issued in such amounts and at such times as may the money for the payment of the cost of such work be required, such notes to be issued to said contractor and to be redeemed and cancelled at the time that Internal Improvement Bonds are issued in lieu thereof. Section 4. That this ordinance shall take a-fiect and be in full force from and after its adoption and publication once in the official city paper.
