6634 Street ImprovementsCONSOLIDATED-SALmA 1 C7 ORDINANCE NUMBER 6634 (Published in The Salina Journal ju-n e � 1 , 196 2) AN ORDINANCE providing for the resurfacing of Ash Street with asphalt (Forty-seven (47) feet wide from face of curb to face of curb) from the west line of Ohio Street to the east line of Fifth Street; resurfacing Bishop Street with asphalt (a variable width of 37 feet to 79 feet from face of curb to face of curb) from the west line of Ninth Street to the north line of Park Street; resurfacing Crawford Avenue with asphalt (Thirty-four (34) feet wide jfrom face of curb to face of curb) from the west side of Ninth Street to the west line of Tenth Street; improving and reimproving Santa Fe Avenue with an asphalt median strip which shall vary from two to four feet in width,from a point One -hundred Forty-five (145) feet north of the north line of South Street to a point One -hundred Forty=five (145) feet south of the south line of Prescott Avenue; and providing for the payment of the cost thereof. WHEREAS, by Resolution Numbers 2631, 2629, 2630, 2621, duly adopted on May 8, 1962 and May 29, 1962, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas, have declared that they deem it necessary to resurface Ash Street with asphalt (Forty-seven (47) feet wide from face of curb to face of curb) from the west line of Ohio Street to the east line of Fifth Street; resurface Bishop Street with asphalt (a variable width of 37 feet to 79 feet from face of curb to face of curb) from the west line of Ninth Street to the north line of Park Street; resurface Crawford Avenue with asphalt (Thirty-four (34) feet wide from face ofd curb to face of curb) from the west side of Ninth Street to the west line of Tenth Street; improve and reimprove Santa Fe Avenue with an asphalt median strip which shall vary from two to four feet in width, from a point One -hundred Forty-five (145) feet north of the north line of South Street to a point One -hundred Forty-five (145) feet wouth of the south line of Prescott Avenue. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That it is necessary and it is hereby ordered that Ash Street, from the west line of Ohio Street to the east line of Fifth Street, in said City, be resurfaced i with asphalt (Forty-seven (47) feet wide from face of curb to face of curb), along with I i such grading as may be necessary. Section 2. That it is necessary and it is hereby ordered that Bishop Street, from the west line of Ninth Street to the north line of Park Street, in said City, be resurfaced with asphalt (a variable width of 37 feet to 79 feet from face of curb to face of curb), along with such grading as may be necessary. i Section 3. That it is necessary and it is hereby ordered that Crawford Avenue, from i the west side of Ninth Street to the west line of Tenth Street, in said City, be resurfaced with asphalt (Thirty-four (34) feet wide from face of curb to face of curb), along with such grading as may be necessary. Section 4. That it is necessary and it is hereby ordered that Santa Fe Avenue, from a point One -hundred Forty-five (145) feet north of the north line of South Street to a point One -hundred Forty-five (145) feet south of the south line of Prescott Avenue, be improved and reimproved with an asphalt median strip which shall vary from two to four feet in width. Section 5. That for the work and improvements herein provided for, the City Engineer, shall make and file with the City Clerk on or before the 26th day of June , 1962, complete plans and specifications for the resurfacing with asphalt and installation of asphalt median strip, of the streets described in Sections 1 to 4 of this ordinance, with the following type of improvements: Resurfacing with asphalt and installation of asphalt Median Strip within the limits of said streets, as hereinbefore described. CONSOLIDATED -SALIVA Section 6. That after such plans and specifications have been made and prepared by the City Engineer and filed with the City Clerk as aforesaid, the Board of Commissioners may advertise by advertisement published in the official city paper of the City of Salina, Kansas for three consecutive days for the receipt of sealed proposals for the improving of said streets with the kind of material named and specified in the preceding sections hereof for the completion of said work and after the receipt of such proposals, the said Board of Commissioners may and are hereby authorized and directed to let contracts for the improving of said streets with the materials selected by them to the lowest responsible bidder or bidders therefor, as determined by the Board of Commissioners, said Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Section 7. That for the purpose of paying the cost of the work and improvements in this ordinance provided for, the Board of Commissioners are hereby authorized and directed to pay for same out of funds on hand for this purpose by the City Treasurer of the City of Salina, in an amount not to exceed the contract price or cost of such improvements. Section 8. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its adoption and publication once in the official city paper. Section 6.
