1 AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE ADMINISTRATIVE DEPARTMENTS FOR THE

CITY OF SALINA, KANSAS, AND DESIGNATING THE: VARIOUS OFFICERS,
EMPLOYEES AND DEPARTMENTS AND SUBDIVISIONS THEREGF AMENDING
;SECTION 2-301 AND SECTION 2-302 OF THE CODE C F THE CITY OF
SALINAj1 KANSAS, 1960, AND REPEALING SAID ORIGIN .L SECTIONS.

�j BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF SALINA,
KANSAS:

Section 1. That 2-301 of The Code of the City cf Salina,
Kansas, 1960, be amended to read as follows:

2-301, There are hereby created for the City of Salina,
the following Administrative Departments:
i
(a) Department of Law; I
(b) Department of Service;
(c) Department of Public Health; �
(d) Department of Safety;
(e) Department of Finance;
(f) Department of Waterworks and Sewage. j

Section 2. That 2-302 of The Code of the City of Salina,
Kansas, 1960, be amended to read as follows:

E� 2-302. The affairs of the various .:administrative Depart-
ments shall be administered by the following officers and i
j, employees, functional departments or boards, and the officers
I� and employees thereof or by such other officers and employees,
functional departments or boards as may be required by law or,
other ordinances. All heads of departments, other officers,
employees and members of boards shall be appointed by the
City Manager, unless otherwise provided by law, and shall
hold office at his pleasure unless otherwise provided by law:i
Provided, That the Manager need net appoint or employ any
officer or employee herein provided for, when the buainess of
i the City shall not require it. The duties of such officers
and employees, departments or beards shall be as herein pro-
vided or as provided by other ordinances of the City and by
the laws of the State of Kansas.

The Manager may appoint a director to be in general chargel
of an administrative department.
` The administrative departments shall consist of the
officers, functional departments, boards and employees
authorized herein and such other officers, functional depart-
ments, boards and employees as shall be attached to said
administrative departments by other ordinances.

The duties of the officers, boards and employees shall be
as provided by this code, other ordinances and the laws of
the State of Kansas and as specified by the directors of
departments, department heads and the City Manager,
Section 3. 2-301 and 2-302 of the Code of the City of
Salina, Kansas, 1960, are hereby repealed.

This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and
after its publication in the official City paper.
