6708 Street ImprovementsCONSOLIDATED-SALTNA 1 1 ORDINANCE NUMBER (Published in The Salina Journal /�,� ` 5o 1963) AN ORDINANCE providing for the resurfacing of Eighth Street with aslhalt from the south line of Elm Street to the north line of Prescott Avenue; resurfacing of Fifth Street with asphalt from the south line of Walnut Street to the north line of Prescott Avenue; resurfacing of Walnut Street with asphalt from the east line of Fifth Street to the west line of the Smoky Hill River Bridge; and providing for the payment of the cost thereof. WHEREAS, by Resolution Numbers 2698, 2697 and 2696, duly adopted on March 12, 1963, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas, have declared that they deem it necessary to resurface Eighth Street with asphalt from the south line of Elm Street to the north line of Prescott Avenue; resurface Fifth Street with asphalt from the south line of Walnut Street to the north line of Prescott Avenue; resurface Walnut Street with asphalt from the east line of Fifth Street to the west line of the Smoky Hill River Bridge. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That it is necessary and it is hereby ordered that Eighth Street, from the south line of Elm Street to the north line of Prescott Avenue, in said City, be with asphalt resurfaced/along with such grading as may be necessary. Section 2. That it is necessary and it is hereby ordered that Fifth Street, from the south line of Walnut Street to the north line of Prescott Avenue, in said City, be j with asphalt resurfaced/along with such grading as may be necessary. Section 3. That it is necessary and it is hereby ordered that Walnut Street, from the east line of Fifth Street to the west line of the Smoky Hill River Bridge, in said City, be resurfaced with asphalt along with such grading as may be necessary. Section 4. That for the work and improvements herein provided for, the City Engineer shall make and file with the City Clerk on or before the day of 4 1963, complete plans and specifications for the resurfacing with asphalt of the streets described in Sections 1 to 3 of this ordinance, and said engineer shall on or before the same date, submit to the Board of Commissioners under oath, detailed estimates of the cost of such work and improvements. Section 5. That after such plans and specifications have been made and prepared by the City Engineer and filed with the City Clerk as aforesaid, the Board of Commissioners may advertise by advertisement published in the official city paper of the City of Salina, Kansas for three consecutive days for the receipt of sealed proposals for the improving of said streets with the kind of material named and specified in the preceding sections hereof for the completion of said work and after the receipt of such proposals, the said Board of Commissioners may and are hereby authorized and directed to let contracts for the improving of said streets with the materials selected by them to the lowest responsible bidder or bidders therefor, as determined by the Board of Commissioners, said Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Section 6. That for the purpose of paying the cost of the work and improvements in this ordinance provided for, the Board of Commissioners are hereby authorized and directed to pay for same out of funds on hand for this purpose by the City Treasurer of the City of Salina, in an amount not to exceed the contract price or cost of such improvements. Section 7, That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its adoption and publication oncein the official city paper.
