ORDINANCE NUMBER 05-10266
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 7, ARTICLE VI, SECTIONS 7-93, 7-100
AND 7-101 OF THE SALINA CODE PERTAINING TO ANIMAL REGISTRATION AND
REPEALING EXISTING SECTIONS 7-93,7-100 AND 7-101.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That Section 7-93 of Chapter 7, Article VI of the Salina Code is hereby amended
as follows:
"Sec. 7-93. Fees; exemption.
(a) The registration fees for cats and dogs shall be determined by resolution.
(b) As proof of neutering and/or permanent identification such as tattooing, microchip or
other types of approved identification, the applicant shall present to the animal
shelter personnel a validation signed by a licensed veterinarian.
(c) No registration fee shall be charged to any owner of a dog trained and being used as
a guide or hearing dog."
Section 2. That Section 7-101 of Chapter 7, Article VI of the Salina Code is hereby
amended as follows:
"Sec. 7-100. Animal Control supervisor to maintain file of registry certificates.
The animal control supervisor shall keep on file a copy of all certificates of registry issued
within the preceding thirty-six (36) months. Such certificates shall include, but not be
limited to, the following information: The owner's name, address, and telephone number; an
alternate telephone number; a description of the cat or dog, including name, breed, color,
age, weight, sex and neutered or unuttered status; notation of proper tattoo marking, if
applicable; the number of the registration certificate and tag issued; and the expiration date
of the registration."
Section 2. That existing Sections 7-93 and 7-100 are hereby repealed.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption
and publication once in the official city newspaper.
