ORDINANCE NUMBER 05-10263
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 8, ARTICLE I, DIVISION 1 BY
ADDING SECTION 8-23 PERTAINING TO LOCAL AMENDMENTS OF THE
INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODE IN RELATIONS TO PLUMBING FIXTURES.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the Salina Code is hereby amended by adding a section to be numbered 8-
23, which section reads as follows:
"Sec. 8-23. Amendment of Section 2902.1 of the International Building Code.
[Section 2902.1 of the International Building Code is hereby amended to read as follows.]
2902.1 Minimum number of fixtures. Plumbing fixtures shall be provided for the type of
occupancy and in the minimum number shown in Table 2902.1 Types of occupancies not
shown in Table 2902.1 shall be considered individually by the building official. The number
of occupants shall be determined by this code. Occupancy classification shall be determined
in accordance with Chapter 3.
Exceptions:
1. Substitution for water closets. In each bathroom or toilet room, urinals shall not be
substituted for more than 67 percent of the required water closets.
2. For the purposes of satisfying the requirements of the building code, water fountains
and/or service sinks shall not be required in any occupancy."
Section 2. That Section 8-23 is hereby added.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption
and publication once in the official city newspaper.
