AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with Brown and Brown, Inc., for the
construction of certain improvements in the City of Salina, Kansas, and providing for the
issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof, pending the issuance and sale of bonds.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina, Kansas, of the proposal of
Brown and Brown, Inc., hereinafter referred to as the "Contractor" as submitted to the Board
of Commissioners on April 25, 1966, which is hereby found to be the lowest and best bid for
such work, and the contract awarded by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina to
said contractor and signed on behalf of the City by its Mayor on May 2, 1966, for the
construction of certain public improvements in the City of Salina, Kansas, to -wit:
The paving and grading of Greeley Avenue with concrete (Thirty-three
(33) feet wide from back of curb to back of curb) from Kenwood Avenue
to the present paving at Hazel Court, the same being an intervening
connecting street.
The paving and grading of Dover Drive with concrete (Twenty-eight (28)
feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter) from the south line of
Teakwood Street to the south line of Westwood Road, the same being an
intervening connecting street.
The paving and grading of Diamond Drive with concrete (Thirty-three (33)
feet wide from back of curb to back of curb) from the west line of Ninth
Street (Highway US 81) to the West City Limits.
The paving and grading of the Alley First East of Santa Fe Avenue with
concrete (Ten (10) feet wide from edge of concrete to edge of concrete)
from the south line of Crawford Avenue to the north line of Bond Street.
Sanitary Sewer, storm sewer, water main, curbing, guttering, and
pavement of Elmhurst Boulevard, from Ohio Street to Roach Street.
at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal and
contract are hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance, be and the same is hereby
ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated cost of said improvements
as shown by the sworn estimates of the City Engineer on file in the Office of the City Clerk,
which estimates are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance.
Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance with the
plans and specifications therefore prepared by the City Engineer on file in the Office of the
City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said contractor and under the terms of said
contract, all of which are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance.
Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attest by the City Clerk be
issued from time to time as the work progresses in the manner and form as required by law,
the total amount thereof not to exceed the amount of $96,951.25, for such work, such notes
to bear interest not to exceed 5 per cent per annum and to mature not later than December 1,
1967, and to be issued in such amounts and at such times as money for the payment of the cost
of such notes being issued to said contractor and to be redeemed and cancelled at the time
that permanent bonds are issued in lieu thereof.

Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its
adoption and publication once in the official city paper.
