AN ORDINANCE DEFINING A CONSUMER OF WATER SERVICE AS USED
IN CHAPTER 35 OF THE SALINA CODE.
:3E IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF SALINA,
KANSAS:
Section 1. That the Salina Code is hereby amended by add-
ing a section to be numbered 35-44 which said section reads as
follows:
Section 35-44. Consumer. defined.
The consumer, as referred to herein, shall be the
party receivin¢ water or service for a property classi-
fied as follows:
1. APARTMENT: A room or a suite of rooms within
an apartment house arranged, intended, or des-
igned for a place of residence of a single
family, individual, or group of individuals
living together as a single housekeeping unit.
2. DWELLIIIG, ONE -FAMILY: A detached building ar-
ranged, intended or designed for occupancy by
one family.
3. BUILDING, ONE -BUSINESS: A building_ under one
roof, occupied by one business.
4. BUILDING, MULTIPLE -BUSINESS: A building owned
by one person, firm or corporation, having a
number of offices, shops or stores, using in
common one hall and one or more means of ingress
and egress.
5. DWELLING, TVIO-FAMILY: A building arranged,
intended, or designed for occupancy by two (2)
families, each household unit of which shall
be considered an individual consumer.
6. APARTI.4ENT HOUSE: A building arran?ed, intended,
or designed for more than two (2) families,
each household unit of which shall be consid-
ered an individual consumer.
7. BOARDIdGHOUSE OR LODGING ROUSE: A building*
other than a hotel, occupied as a single house-
keeping unit, where lodging and/or meals are
provided for five (5) or more persons for com-
pensation, pursuant to previous arrangement,
but not for the public or transients.
8. IiOTEL: A building occupied or used as a more -
or -less temporary abiding place of individuals
or groups of individuals who are lodged, with
or without meals, and in which there are more
than twelve (12) sleeping rooms, and no provi-
sion .for cooking in individual rooms.
'here by special written permission of the. Director
of Utilities, more than one consumer is permitted to ob-
tain water through a single meter or battery of meters,
a charge at the uniform maximum rate as prescribed by
Section 35-55 per hundred cubic feet or per thousand gal-
lons for two thousand (2,000) cubic feet as it now exists
or as hereafter amended shall be made.

Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and he in force
from and after its adoption and publication in the official
city paper.
Adopted by the Governing 3odv of the City of Salina, Kansas,
and approved by the 111avor this day of Januarv, 1967.
