AN ORDINANCE relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots
and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of aving and grading
the Alley First East of Chicago Street with concrete (Sixteen (16) feet wide) from the north
line of South Street to the south line of Spruce Street; the paving of Fourth Street with
concrete (Twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutt r) from the north
side of Pacific Avenue to the north side of Harsh Avenue, the same being an intervening
connecting street; the paving of Fourth Street with concrete (Twenty-ei ht (28) feet wide
from toe of gutter to toe of gutter) from the north side of Harsh Avenu to the south side
of Hamilton Avenue,the same being an intervening connecting street; the paving of Fourth
Street with concrete (Twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter from
the north side of Hamilton Avenue to the south line of Antrim Avenue, tie same being an
intervening connecting street; curbing, guttering, paving and grading Df Hamilton Avenue
with concrete (Thirty-three (33) feet wide from back of curb to back of curb) from the west
line of Fourth Street to the east line of Fifth Street, the same being 3n intervening
connecting street; the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Hamilt n Avenue with concrete]
(Thirty-three (33) feet wide from back of curb to back of curb) from th west line of Fifth
Street to the east line of Santa Fe Avenue, the same being an intervene g connecting street;
the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Westport Boulevard with c ncrete (Fifty-one (51)
feet wide from back of curb to back of curb) from a point 328 feet nortl of St. Louis Street
to a point 1185 feet north of St. Louis Street; and relating to and pro iding for the
collection and payment of such assessments.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas;
Section 1. For the purpose of paying for that part of the cost of improvements
in certain portions of certain streets as hereinafter set forth in the Following sections of
this ordinance, which is chargeable to the private property in the assessment districts for
each of such improvements, respectively, as set forth in the following ections of this
ordinance with respect to each of such improvements, there is hereby levied and assessed on
the property liable therefor, being all the lots and pieces of land lye g on either side of
said streets so improved, respectively, to the middle of the block for the distance improved
with respect to the improvements mentioned in Sections 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, of this ordinance;
according to the appraised value of such lots and pieces of ground with respect to each such
improvement, without regard to the buildings or improvements thereon, s ecial assessments
covering the cost of such work and improvements, said special assessments being based on the
special valuation and appraisement of said lots and pieces of ground th refor made by three
disinterested appraisers appointed by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, KansaE
with respect to each such improvement which said appraisements are here y referred to and
made a part of this ordinance, and the several amounts so levied, apportioned and assessed
against the lots and pieces of ground for each such improvement, respectively, for the
purpose aforesaid, are hereby found and determined to be the amount set! forth in the followinc
sections of this ordinance with respect to each of such improvements.
Section 2. For that part of the cost of the paving and grading of the Alley First
East of Chicago Street with concrete (Sixteen (16) feet wide) from the north line of South
Street to the south line of Spruce Street, which is chargeable against the private property
within the district chargeable therefor, and which cost is hereby determined to be $2,583.07
there is hereby levied, apportioned and assessed against the following described lots and
pieces of land provided for in Section 1 of this ordinance, the following amounts:

Section 9. Said amounts so levied, apportioned and assessed as aforesaid will be
due and collectible in ten equal installments, the first becoming due wlith the taxes levied
for the year 1968, and one of said installments falling due each and every year thereafter
until all are paid and all to be collected with interest as in this ordinance provided, j
HOWEVER, that the owner of any piece of property liable for any such assessment may redeem

his property from such liability by paying to the City Treasury the entire amount chargeable

against the same as in this ordinance provided, at any time within thir y days after the i
publication of this ordinance and before the issuance of bonds of said Pity in payment of
the balance of the cost of said improvements, the property so paid on s�all not thereafter be
liable for any further assessment for the cost of such improvements norfor any part of said
bonds.

Section 10. There is hereby levied further and assessed agaiOst such lots and

pieces of ground described in this ordinance, interest at such rate periannum as shall be
borne by the bonds which may be issued at the end of thirty days as specified in the preceding)
sections hereof, as by law provided, to the time of the collection of the installments as

provided by law, which said interest shall be collected annually at the same time and in the
same manner as said installments are collected and after the taking eff
