AN ORDINANCE relating to the resurfacing of Eleventh Street with hot mi*ed asphaltic concrete
(Thirty (30) feet wide) from the south line of Morrison Street to the n�rth line of Prescott
Avenue; the resurfacing of Elm Street with hot mixed asphaltic concrete (Thirty-seven (37)
feet wide) from the east line of College Street to the west line of Nin h Street; the
resurfacing of Penn Avenue with hot mixed asphaltic concrete (Thirty -se en (37) feet wide)
from the north line of Iron Avenue to the south line of Ash Street; the resurfacing of
Prescott Avenue with hot mixed asphaltic concrete (Thirty (30) feet wide) from the west line
of Ninth Street to the east line of Eleventh Street; the resurfacing of ',Republic Avenue with
hot mixed asphaltic concrete (Thirty-seven (37) feet wide) from the east line of Ninth Street
to the west line of Fifth Street; the resurfacing of Sunset Drive with hot mixed asphaltic
concrete (Forty (40) feet wide) from the west line of Ninth Street to the west line of
Highland Circle; and relating to and providing for the collection and p yment of such
assessments.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. For the purpose of paying for that part of the cot of improvements in
certain portions of certain streets as hereinafter set forth in the fol owing sections of
this ordinance, which is chargeable to the private property in the asse sment districts for
each of such improvements, respectively, as set forth in the following sections of this
ordinance with respect to each of such improvements, there is hereby levied and assessed
on the property liable therefor, being all the lots and pieces of land lying on either side
of said street so improved, respectively, to the middle of the block ford the distance improved
with respect to the improvements mentioned in Sections 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7�1 of this ordinance,
according to the appraised value of such lots and pieces of ground with respect to each such
improvements, without regard to the buildings or improvements thereon special assessments
covering the cost of such work and improvements, said special assessments being based on the
special valuation and appraisement of said lots and pieces of ground thIrefore made by three
disinterested appraisers appointed by the Board of Commissioners of the ',City of Salina, Kansas)
with respect to each such improvement which said appraisements are hereby referred to and
made a part of this ordinance, and the several amounts so levied, apportioned and assessed
against the lots and pieces of ground for each such improvement, respec ively, for the
purpose aforesaid, are hereby found and determined to be the amounts se4 forth in the followin�
sections of this ordinance with respect to each of such improvements.
Section 2. For that part of the cost of resurfacing Eleventhl,Street with hot mixed
asphaltic concrete (Thirty (30) feet wide) from the south line of Morrison Street to the north
line of Prescott Avenue, which is chargeable against the private property within the district
chargeable therefor, and which cost is hereby determined to be $2,290.411, there is hereby
levied, apportioned and assessed against the following described lots and pieces of land
provided for in Section 1 of this ordinance, the following amounts:

Section 8.
Said amounts so levied, apportioned and assessedl, as aforesaid will be

due and collectible in
ten equal installments, the first becoming due wlith the taxes levied
for the year 1968, and
one of said installments falling due each and every year thereafter
until all are paid and
all to be collected with interest as in this ordinance provided,
HOWEVER, that the owner
of any piece of property liable for any such assessment may redeem
I
his property from such
liability by paying to the City Treasury the entire amount chargeable
I
against the same, as in
this ordinance provided, at any time within thirty days after the
ipublication
of this ordinance
and before the issuance of bonds of said 'City in payment of
the balance of the cost
of said improvements, the property so paid on slhall not thereafter
be liable for any further
assessment for the cost of such improvements lnor for any part of
said bonds.

Section 9. There is hereby levied further and assessed agailnst such lots and
pieces of ground described in this ordinance, interest at such rate per annum as shall be
borne by the bonds which may be issued at the end of thirty days as specified in the precedin
sections hereof, as by law provided, to the time of the collection of the installments as
provided by law, which said interest shall be collected annually at thel same time and in the
same manner as said installments are collected and after the taking effect of this ordinance
and the fixing of said interest rate when such bonds are authorized andl issued, it shall be

the duty of the City Clerk of said City to annually at the same time other taxes are certifie�,
and until all said assessments so apportioned and levied have been certified to the County
Clerk of Saline County, Kansas, to certify a full list of all propertyon which the special
I
assessments aforesaid have been paid in full as hereinbefore provided, (together with the
respective amounts due on each of said lots and pieces of ground which amounts shall include
the annual installments of such special assessments with the interest fly r one year at the
rate to be fixed as provided for in this ordinance, on all unpaid balances of said assessment4,
and such amounts so certified as herein provided shall be placed upon
County Clerk of Saline County, Kansas, and collected as other taxes a
e tax roll by the

Section 10. This ordinance shall take effect and be in fulllforce from and after
its adoption and publication once in the official city paper.
