AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A LEVY OF TAXES FOR GENERAL REVENUE AND OTHER PURPOSES
OF THE CITY OF SALINA, KANSAS FOR 1970 AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NUMBER 8101.
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners did on the 17 h day of August, 1970, adopt
Ordinance Number 8101 providing for a levy of taxes for general revenue and other purposes
of the City of Salina, Kansas for 1970; and,
WHEREAS, after the adoption of said Ordinance, the Board of County Commissioners
of Saline County, Kansas, upon orders received from the State Board of Tax Appeals, reduced
the assessed valuation of all real estate in Saline County,l*ansas; and,
WHEREAS, it is necessary to increase the tax levies specified in Ordinance
Number 8101 in order to provide the necessary revenues to meet the requirements of the
1971 Budget as adopted by the Board of Commissioners; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor has requested in writing that the Governing Body determine
that an emergency exists in regards to the adoption of this ordinance so that this ordinance
may be finally adopted upon its introduction.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BdDY OF THE CITY OF SALINA, KANSAS:
Section 1. That it is hereby determined that an emergency exists in regards to
the adoption of this ordinance for the levying of taxes for general revenue and other
purposes by the City of Salina, Kansas, for the year 1970.
Section 2. That the sum of 32.3800 mills on the dollar be and the same is hereby
levied on real, personal and mixed property of whatsoever kind and nature (except intangible
property otherwise taxes or assessed according to law) in the City of Salina, Kansas, which
is a City of the First Class having a population of less than 50,000 for the year 1970, for
the purpose hereafter set forth and apportioned and dividedlas follows:

CONSOLIDATED-SALINA
Section 3. That the valuation of the property upon which the foregoing taxes
are levied and assessed be in all cases taken from the assessment rolls for the present
year in the Office of the County Clerk of Saline County, Kansas, so that the levy of taxes
herein provided for may be placed upon the tax rolls and th taxes collected according to
law.
Section 4. That the City Clerk be instructed to file an Amended Certification
of the tax levy for the City of Salina with the Saline County Clerk.
Section 5. That Ordinance Number 8101 is hereby repealed.
Section 6. That this ordinance shall be in full orce and effect from and after
its adoption and publication once in the official city newspaper.
Adopted by the Board of Commissioners and signed by the Mayor this 21st day of
September, 1970.

sioners determine that a public emergency exists in re-
gards to the adoption of an ordinance for the purpose
of making a levy of taxes for general revenue and other
purposes by the City of Salina, Kansas for the year 1971
and that an ordinance for such levy he adopted on the
day of its introduction as provided for in KSA 12-3001.
