AN ORDINANCE DEFINING THE WARD AND PRECINCTS OF THE CITY OF SALINA, KANSAS; AMENDING
SECTIONS 11-1 to 11-34, INCLUSIVE, OF THE SALINA CODE AND REPEALING SAID ORIGINAL SECTIONS.

BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That Sections 11-1 to 11-34 of The Salina Code are hereby amended to
read as follows:
"Sec. 11-1. City Divided into ward and precincts.
The City is hereby divided into one ward to be known as
the First, which shall be divided into the number of voting
precincts as hereinafter provided.
Sec. 11-2. First Precinct described.
The first precinct of the first ward shall include all of
that part of the first ward as herein defined which lies within
the following described boundaries, to -wit:
Commencing at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Santa Fe Avenue;
Thence north in Santa Fe Avenue to Otis Avenue;
Thence east in Otis Avenue to Fifth Street;
Thence north in Fifth Street to the city limits line;
Thence north, west & south along the city limits line to Grand Avenue;
Thence east in Grand Avenue to Tenth Street;
Thence north in Tenth Street one hundred sixty-five (165) feet;
Thence east with a line parallel to Grand Avenue to Ninth Street;
Thence south in Ninth Street to Grand Avenue;
Thence east in Grand Avenue to the place of beginning.
Sec. 11-3. Second Precinct described.
The second precinct of the first ward shall include all of
that part of the first ward as herein defined which lies within
the following described boundaries, to -wit:
Commencing at the intersection of Elm Street and Santa Fe Avenue;
Thence west in Elm Street to the city limits line;
Thence north along the city limits line to Grand Avenue;

Thence north in Tenth Street one hundred sixty-five (165) feet;
Thence east with a line parallel to Grand Avenue to Ninth Street;
Thence south in Ninth Street to Grand Avenue;
Thence east in Grand Avenue to Santa Fe Avenue;
Thence south in Santa Fe Avenue to the place of beginning.
Sec. 11-4. Third Precinct described.
The third precinct of the first ward shall include all of
that part of the first ward as herein defined which lies within
the following described boundaries, to -wit:
Commencing at the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue and Iron Avenue;
Thence north in Santa Fe Avenue to Elm Street;
Thence west in Elm Street to the West City Limits Line;
Thence south along the city limits line to Marietta Street -
Thence east in Marietta Street extended to Iron Avenue;
Thence east in Iron Avenue to the place of beginning.
Sec. 11-5. Fourth Precinct described.
The fourth precinct of the first ward shall include all of
that part of the first ward as herein defined which lies within the
following described boundaries, to -wit:
Commencing at the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue and Iron Avenue;
Thence north in Santa Fe Avenue to Otis Avenue;
Thence east in Otis Avenue to Fifth Street;
Thence north in Fifth Street to the city limits line;
Thence east and south along the city limits line to the Smoky Hill River;
Thence west and south in the Smoky Hill River to Penn Avenue, extended;
Thence south in Penn Avenue to Iron Avenue;
Thence west in Iron Avenue to the place of beginning.

The Fifth Precinct of the First Ward shall include all of
that part of the First Ward as herein defined which lies within
the following described boundaries, to -wit:
Commencing at the intersection of Iron Avenue and Penn Avenue;
Thence north in Penn Avenue to the center line of the Smoky Hill River;
Thence along the center line of the Smoky Hill River to its intersection
with the City Limits line;
Thence following said City Limits line in an easterly direction to
Marymount Road;
Thence south in Marymount Road to Iron Avenue;
Thence west in Iron Avenue to the place of beginning.
Sec. 11-7. Sixth Precinct described.
The Sixth Precinct of the First Ward shall include all of
that part of the First Ward as herein defined which lies within
the following described boundaries, to -wit:
Commencing at the intersection of Iron Avenue and Twelfth Street;
Thence south in Twelfth Street to South Street;
Thence west in South Street to Baker Street;
Thence north in Baker Street to a point seventy-two (72) feet
south of the south line of Cedar Street;
Thence west with a line parallel to Spruce Street to Phillips Street;
Thence south in Phillips Street to Spruce Street;
Thence west in Spruce Street to the West City Limits Line-,
Thence north along the City Limits line to Marietta Street;
Thence east in Marietta Street extended to Iron Avenue;
Thence east in Iron Avenue to the place of beginning.

Thence north in Baker Street to a point seventh -two (72) feet
south of the south line of Cedar Street;
Thence west with a line parallel to Spruce Street to Phillips Street;
Thence south in Phillips Street to Spruce Street;
Thence west in Spruce Street to the west City Limits line;
Thence south and west along the City Limits line to the Flood Control Levee;
Thence southwesterly along the Flood Control Levee to Beverly Drive extended;
Thence east in Beverly Drive to Broadway Boulevard;
Thence east from Broadway Boulevard to Prescott Avenue;
Thence east in Prescott Avenue to Eleventh Street;
Thence north in Eleventh Street to the place of beginning.

The Eighth Precinct of the First Ward shall include all of
that part of the First Ward as herein defined which lies within
the following described boundaries, to -wit:
Commencing at the intersection of Iron Avenue and Santa Fe Avenue;
Thence south in Santa Fe Avenue to South Street;
Thence west in South Street to Twelfth Street;
Thence north in Twelfth Street to Iron Avenue;
Thence east in Iron Avenue to the place of beginning.
Sec. 11-10. Ninth Precinct described.
The Ninth Precinct of the First Ward shall include all of
that part of the First Ward as herein defined which lies within
the following described boundaries, to -wit:
Commencing at the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue and South Street;
Thence south in Santa Fe Avenue to Prescott Avenue;
Thence west in Prescott Avenue to Eleventh Street;
Thence north in Eleventh Street to South Street;
Thence east in South Street to the place of beginning.

Sec. 11-13. Twelfth Precinct described.
The Twelfth Precinct of the First Ward shall include all of
that part of the First Ward as herein defined which lies within
the following described boundaries, to -wit:
Commencing at the intersection of Iron Avenue and Ohio Street;
Thence south in Ohio Street to its intersection with the center line of
the Smoky Hill River.
Thence easterly and northerly along the center line of the Smoky Hill River
to its intersection with the center line of the
Flood Control Cut -off -Channel;
Thence northerly along the center line of the Flood Control Cut-off Channel
to its intersection with Iron Avenue;
Thence west in Iron Avenue tc the place of beginning.
Sec. 11-14. Thirteenth Precinct described.
The Thirteenth Precinct of the First Ward shall include all of
that part of the First Ward as herein defined which lies within
the following described boundaries, to -wit:
Commencing at the intersection of Marymount Road and Iron Avenue;
Thence north in Marymount Road, extended to the north City Limits line;
Thence east, north, south and west along the City Limits line to Glen Avenue;
Thence west in Glen Avenue to Driftwood Road;
Thence south in Driftwood Road to the center of the block;
Thence west with a line parallel to Glen Avenue to Beechwood Road;
Thence north in Beechwood Road to Glen Avenue;
Thence west in Glen Avenue and Glen Avenue extended to the center line
of the Flood Control Cut -off -Channel;
Thence northerly along the center line of the Flood Control Cut-off Channel
to its intersection with Iron Avenue;

Thence west in Glen Avenue and Glen Avenue extended to the center line of the
Flood Control Cut-off Channel;
Thence south in the Flood Control Cut-off Channel and along the center line
of the Smoky Hill River to the south City Limits

Thence southerly, easterly and northerly following the City Limits line to
Glen Avenue;
Thence west in Glen Avenue to Driftwood Road;
Thence south in Driftwood Road to the center of the block;

The Fifteenth Precinct of the First Ward shall include all of
that part of the First Ward as herein defined which lies within
the following described boundaries, to -wit:
Commencing at the intersection of Republic Avenue and Pontiac Avenue;
Thence north in Pontiac Avenue two hundred (200) feet;
Thence west with a line parallel to Republic Avenue to Cherokee Drive;
Thence south in Cherokee Drive to its intersection with the west City Limits
line;
Thence westerly, northerly and easterly along the City Limits line to the
Flood Control Levee;
Thence southwesterly along the Flood Control Levee to Beverly Drive extended;

Thence east in Cloud Street to the east City Limit line;
Thence south along the City Limit line to the Drainage Ditch;
Thence west in the Drainage Ditch to the Ohio Street, Belmont Boulevard,
Wayne Avenue Intersection;
Thence southwest in Belmont Boulevard to the center of the block
of the Grace E. Stewart School Grounds;
Thence northeast across the Grace E. Stewart School Grounds to the

The Thirtieth Precinct of the First Ward shall include all of
that part of the First Ward as herein defined which lies within
the following described boundaries, to -wit:
Commencing at the intersection of Ohio Street, Belmont Boulevard,
Wayne Avenue;
Thence southwest in Belmont Boulevard to the center of the block
of the Grace E. Stewart School Grounds;
Thence northeast across the Grace E. Stewart School Grounds to the
intersection of Wayne Avenue and Roach Street;
Thence west in Wayne Avenue to the Union Pacific Railroad Tracks;
Thence southeast along the Union Pacific Railroad tracks to a point
2,640 feet south of the center line of Magnolia Road;
Thence east 200 feet to the City Limit line;
Thence east and north along the City Limit line to the Drainage Ditch;
Thence west in the Drainage Ditch to the place of beginning.
Sec. 11-32. Thirty-first Precinct described.
The Thirty-first Precinct of the First Ward shall include all of
that part of the First Ward as herein defined which lies within
the following described boundaries, to -wit:
Commencing at the intersection of Magnolia Road and the Union Pacific
Railroad tracks;
Thence southeast along the Union Pacific Railroad tracks to a point
2,640 feet south of the center line of Magnolia Road;
Thence east 200 feet to the City Limit line;
Thence south, east, south, west, north and east to the Union Pacific Railroad
tracks;
Thence southeast along the Union Pacific Railroad tracks to the place of
beginning.
Sec. 11-33. Precincts and voting in territory outside City but in city
school districts.
All territory outside the corporate limts of the City which
has been attached to the City for school purposes and which is a
part of the city school district shall be and the same is hereby
attached to the several voting precincts of the City contiguous
thereto and all persons residing in any such attached territory
and possessing the qualifications of an elector under the laws
of the State of Kansas shall be qualified to vote at an election
in the City for school purposes only in any voting precinct of
such City which lies contiguous to the attached territory where
such person resides, and the boundaries of which voting precinct,
if extended, would include the residence of such school district
voter, and the ballots furnished to any such person for the
purpose of voting at any such election shall be so prepared as
to permit such person to vote for school purposes only and the
judges and clerks of election in any voting precinct at which
any such votes are cast shall prepare and keep a separate record
of the persons casting such ballots received by them at any such
election.

Sec. 11-34. Precinct for annexed territor
Any territory hereafter added to the City shall become a
part of that voting precinct to which it is contiguous and
whose boundaries intersecting the city limits, if extended,
would include such added territory, unless such territory
shall, by ordinance, be specifically attached to some other
voting precinct.
Section 2. That Sections 11-1 to 11-34, inclusive, of The Salina Code are hereby
repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
adoption and publication once in the official city newspaper.
