Minor Policy Manual UpdatesMinor Policy Manual Updates Library Policy Manual Explanation:Staff would like to update patron card information for those 11 and older so that guarantors as well as legal guardians both must agree to changing a card to a full patron card. Patron Card: ●Available to patrons age 11 or older.(*Note:Some youth had patron cards before this policy change.When the patron card is renewed,staff will explain the new policy and to have a full Patron Card one must be age 11 or older.) ■Patrons younger than 18 must have consent from a legal guardian as well as the guarantor on the account if different from the legal guardian (see Youth Card information) ●Check out of any item,with a $5 account balance ●PC access on the main level of the Library adult areas ●Full access to virtual services ●Fines accumulate &patrons are charged for lost items ■Fines are not charged for books checked out in the Youth Services area.*as of May 1,2020 Youth Card: ●Available to patrons younger than 18 with consent from a legal guardian ○Guarantor’s name must be listed on the account ●Check out items in the Youth Services department,with a $5 account balance ●PC access in the Youth Services department ●Access to most virtual services ●Fines accumulate and patrons are charged for lost items (The legal guardian accepts full financial responsibility.) ○Fines are not charged for books checked out in the Youth Services area.*as of May 1,2020 Virtual Card: ●Available to patrons age 11 or older ○Patrons younger than 18 must have consent from a legal guardian as well as the guarantor on the account if different from the legal guardian (see Youth Card information) ●PC access on the main level of the Library adult areas if 18 years of age ○Patrons younger than 18 may have PC access in the youth services department ●Cannot check out physical Library materials ●Full access to virtual services ●No fines or charges for lost items due to virtual services only School Library Card: ●Cards are created by using Student IDs provided by the educational institution ●Up to 10 physical items may be checked out at one time Explanation:In order to allow additional use of Chromebooks,staff would like to update the policy to allow patrons to have 2 checkouts per day.Chromebooks are used within the Library building. 003.1:LOAN PERIODS The majority of Library materials circulate for 28 days.The chart below provides loan periods and checkout limits for materials. Patrons may renew items if no one else has the item on hold.Items can be renewed 2 times. A maximum of 50 items can be checked out.
