538 Constructing a Viaduct Over RR Tracks Crossing Santa Fe Avenue RESOLUTION NO. 538

A Resolution relating to the construction of a viaduct
over the railroad tracks which cross Santa Fe Avenue
in the City of Salina, Kansas.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY
OF SALINA, KANSAS :
Section 1. That it is deemed necessary for the public
good and convenience that a viaduct be constructed over
the tracks of the Union Pacific Railroad Company, The
Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway Company, The Missinri
Pacific Railroad Company, and The Chicago , Rock Island &
Pacific Railroad Company, where such tracks cross Santa Fe
Avenue in the City of Salina, and which street where it is
crossed by such railroad tracks constitutes a part of
U. S. Highway No. 81, and as such is a part of the Federal
and State highway systeg, for the reason that the traffic
on said portion of such street , and of such Federal and State
Highway, is very dense , and the necessity of such traffic
crossing. the 2-' tracks of the four railroad companies above
mentioned, at the street grade , constitutes a danger and a
hazard to the persons who are required to use such street
for the purpose of crossing said railway tracks , and to
the vehicles and other property transported across such
tracks.
Section 2. That the State Highway Commission be requested to
make an investigation of the necessity of constructing such a
viaduct, and that if such investigation i0( conducted by such
commissthon, and if as a result thereof the necessity for
such viaduct is shown to exist , that the State-Highway Com-
mission be requested to commence such proceedings as are
provided by law for the construction of such a viaduct .
Section 3. That the City Clerk be and he is hereby directed to
transmit a certified copy of this Resolution to the State
Highway Commission of the State of Kansas.
