7074 Call ElectionCONSOLIDATED-SALINA 1 C 1 (Published in The Salina Journal , (.Q ORDINANCE NUMBER 7074 MR AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE OFFICERS OF THE CITY OF SALINA, KANSAS, TO CALL AN ELECTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF SAIE CITY THE FOLLOWING PROPOSITION: SHALL THE CITY OF SALINA, KANSAS, ISSUE ITS GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $5,400,000.00 PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF K. S. A. 12-1736 to 12-1739 FOR THE PURPOSE OF ACQUIRING A SITE FOR AND CONSTRUCTING, FURNISHING AND EQUIPPING A PUBLIC BUILDING TO BE USED FOR CONVENTION, COMMUNITY AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES TO STIMULATE ECONOMIC ACTIVITY IN SAID CITY. WHEREAS, the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas, fids it desirable and to the best interest of the City and its inhabitants to submit to the q alified electors of said City the proposition to issue the general obligation bonds of said City hereinafter set out. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF SALINA, KANSAS: Section 1. That a special election be and the same is herebyordered to be held in 1 the City of Salina, Kansas, at the primary election on Tuesday, August 6, 1968, for the purpos� of submitting to the qualified voters of said City the following proposition, to -wit: i Shall the City of Salina, Kansas, issue its general obligation bonds in the amount not to exceed $5,400,000.010 pursuant to the provisions of K. S. A. 12-1736 to 12-1739 for the purpose of acquiring a site for and constructing, furnishing and equipping a public building to be used for conventionl, community and recreational activities to stimulate economic activity in said City. I I Section 2. Ballots to be used at said election on said proposal shall be in substantially the following form OFFICIAL BALLOT Shall the following be adopted? Shall the City of Salina, Kansas, issue its general obligation bonds in the amount not to exceed $5,400,000.00 pursuant to the provisions of K. S. A. 12-1736 to 12-1739 for the purpose of acquiring a site for and constructing, furnishing and equipping a public building to be used for convention, community and recreational activities to stimulate economic activity in said City. To vote in favor of said proposition, make a cross (X) mark in the square after the word "YES". To vote against said proposition make a cross (X) mark in the square after the word "NO". YES NO •. Section 4. Notice of said election setting forth the time and places of holding said election and the proposition to be voted upon as aforesaid shall be given as provided by law, and said notice shall be signed by the Commissioners and City Clerk of said City. Said notice shall be published in The Salina Journal, the official City newspaper. Section 5. All qualified electors residing in the City of Sal',ina, Kansas, shall be entitled to vote on said proposition at said election. The County Election Officer is hereby authorized and directed to prepare and cause to be printed, ballots substantially in the form hereinbefore provided, and also to procure the necessary tally sheets and poll books for use at said election, and said election shall be held in accordance with the provisions of the statutes of the State and the ordinances of said City applicable 'thereto. 3Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage and publication in the official city newspaper.
