AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR SCREENING AND LIGHTING STANDARDS FOR ALL PROPERTY CONSTRUCTED
WITHIN DISTRICTS EE AND FF.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That The Salina Code is hereby amended by adding a new article to
be Chapter 9, which shall be numbered Article XIII, which said article shall read as
follows:
"ARTICLE XIII
Screening and Lighting Standards
"Section 9-401. Screening Standards for District EE.
The following screening standards shall be required of any
business hereinafter constructed within a zone district designated
as EE, Local Service District:
(A) Height:
Minimum: 1. Adjacent to residential property:
3 1/2' above grade or 4' above the nearest
adjacent curb, whichever is greater.
2. Storage screen:
Height not to be less than 2 1/2' above grade
or 3' above the nearest adjacent curb, whichever
is greater.
Maximum: 6' above grade of 6 1/2' above nearest adjacent curb,
Whichever is greater.
(B) Constructed Screen:
Opening to Solid - Maximum: 250
Minimum: 0%
(C) Planting Screen:
Screening, ratio of opening to solid, comparable to that specified
for Constructed Screen.
(D) Gates and Entrances:
Limited to 20% of length of any one side, but not restricting any
one side to less than one 30' opening.
"Section 9-402. Screening Standards for District FF.
The following screening standards shall be required of any business
hereinafter constructed within a zone district designated as FF, Restricted
Industrial District:

(A) Height:
Minimum: 2 1/2' above grade of 3' above top of nearest
adjacent curb, whichever is greater.
Maximum: 6' or 6 1/2' above adjacent curb, whichever is
greater.
(B) Constructed Screen:
Opening to Solid - Maximum: 50%
Minimum: 0%
(C) Planting Screen:
Screening ratio.of opening to solid comparable to that specified
for Constructed Screen.
(D) Gates and Entrances:
Limited to 30% of length of any one side, but not restricting any
one side to less than one 30' opening.
''Section 9-403. Standard for Planted Screens.
The Building Official of the City of Salina shall at all times keep on
file in his office a suggested list of planting materials and spacing ,
requirements for various types of plants which may be used as planting for
screening. Any planted screens which conform to said suggested list shall be
deemed to comply with the requirements of this article. The suggested

planting list shall be prepared by the Building Official subject to the approval
of the Planning Commission of the City of Salina, Kansas, and may be amended
from time to time.
''Section 9-404. Standards for Exterior Lighting in Districts EE and FF.
In zoning districts EE and FF all exterior lamps shall be enclosed so that
the light pattern is diffused by a lens.''
Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
its adoption and publication in the official city newspaper.
