AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE OPERATION OF MOTOR VEHICLES, MOTORCYCLES,
OR MOTOR -DRIVEN CYCLES UPON ANY PORTION OF PUBLIC PROPERTY, OTHER THAN THE
IMPROVED PORTION OF STREETS, AND PROVIDING CERTAIN EXCEPTIONS THERETO.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the Salina Code is hereby amended by adding the
following section to be numbered Section 22-122 which said section shall read
as follows:
"Section 22-122.
It shall be unlawful for any person to drive any motor
vehicle, motorcycle, mini -bike, motor -driven cycle or other
motor -driven vehicle upon any sidewalk or upon or across any
public grounds in the City, or upon the flood control dikes of
the City, except upon the improved portions of public streets,
parking lots, permanent or temporary driveways, and at such
other places as may be permitted by ordinance of the City;
provided, however, that the Board of Commissioners may, by
Resolution, designate areas where certain types of motor -
driven cycles or similar vehicles may be operated."
Section 2. Any person who violates any of the above portions of
this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction
shall be punished as provided in Salina Code Section 1-8.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from
and after its adoption and publication in the official city newspaper.
