ORDINANCE NUMBER 8191

AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EQUIPMENT AND MARKING OF VEHICLES USED BY
MERCHANT OR PRIVATE POLICE LICENSEES.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That The Salina Code is hereby amended by adding the following
sections which shall read as follows:
"Section 28-58.1 Marking of Vehicles.
Any vehicle used by a merchant or private police licensee
while performing the duties for which he is licensed under
this article shall be clearly marked with such identifying
insignia as the Chief of Police may prescribe. The car
markings used by any merchant police licensee under this
act shall not be similar in color or design to those used
by the Police Department of the City or any other governmental
law enforcement agency.
"Section 28-58.2 Radio Equipment in Vehicles.
Any vehicle used by a merchant or private police licensee
while performing the duties for which he is licensed under
this article shall be equipped with a two-way radio in
good operating condition, which is capable of receiving
and transmitting voice communications from and to the
Police Department of the City."
Section 2. This ordinance shall'be in full force and effect from and after
its adoption and publication in the official city newspaper.
