AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE PERMIT FEES FOR CONSTRUCTION, ALTERATION,
AND MOVING OF BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES; AMENDING SECTION 9-25 OF THE SALINA CODE
AND REPEALING THE EXISTING SECTION.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That Section 9-25 of the Salina Code is hereby amended to
read as follows:
"Section 9-25. Permit fees.
Sec. 9-25 (1). No permit, as required by the Building
Code, shall be issued until the fee prescribed in this article
shall have been paid; nor shall an amendment to a permit be
approved until the additional fee, if any, due to an increase
in the estimated cost of the building or structure, shall have
been paid.
Sec. 9-25 (2) (a). For a permit for the construction or
alteration of a building or structure, the fee shall be
computed as follows:
Residential: First 10,000 square feet
of floor area $0.03 per sq. ft.
Per square foot exceeding
10,000 $0.02 per sq. ft.
Provided that there shall be
a minimum building permit of $4.00
Commercial: First 10,000 square feet
of floor area $0.04 per sq. ft.
Next 10,000 square feet
of floor area $0.02 per sq. ft.
Per square foot exceeding
20,000 $0.01 per sq. ft.
Sec. 9-25 (2) (b). For a permit for the remodeling or
repairing of a building or structure where square footage is not
applicable, the fees shall be computed as follows:
First $1,000.00 or fraction thereof $3.00
For each additional $1,000.00 or fraction
thereof $1.50
Sec. 9-25 (3). For a permit for the removal of a building
or structure to a new location within the same or adjacent lot,
the fee shall be one-half (1/2) of that prescribed above for new
construction.
Sec. 9-25 (4). For a permit for the demolition of a
building or structure, a fee shall be at the rate of five
dollars ($5) for a residential structure and twenty-five
dollars ($25) for a commercial structure.
Sec. 9-25 (5). In case of abandonment or discontinuance,
the cost of work performed under a permit may be estimated, and
adjustment of the fee made and the portion of the fee for incompleted
work returned to the permit holder; Provided, that no refund of a
prescribed minimum fee shall be made. If such discontinuance is
due to revocation of permit, a similar adjustment and return may
be made; Provided, that no refund shall be made until all penalties
incurred or imposed by due authority have been collected. After
such a refund has been made, no work shall be resumed until a new
application has been made and a new permit has been issued."
Section 2. That Section 9-25 of the Salina Code is hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its adoption and publication in the official city newspaper.
