AN ORDINANCE DEFINING AN APPRENTICE ELECTIRCIAN AND MAKING IT UNLAWFUL
TO WORK AS AN APPRENTICE ELECTRICIAN WITHOUT THE CONSENT OF THE BOARD OF
EXAMINERS AND SECURING A WORKING PERMIT THEREFOR; ESTABLISHING THE PERMIT FEE;
AMENDING SECTION 9-145(3) AND REPEALING TM EXISTING SECTION..
BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That Section 9-145(3) of the Salina Code is hereby amended
to read as follows:
"Sec. 9-145(3). Apprentice electrician. Any person
earning his livelihood as an electrician, but who has not
acquired the necessary longevity of experience to be eligible
to become a journeyman electrician, or who with the necessary
longevity of experience has not obtained a journeyman
electrician's lic-ense, is hereby classified as an apprentice
electrician. Except by special written consent issued by
the board of examiners, he shall not work except when under
the immediate supervision and direction of a licensed
journeyman electrician or master electrician, properly
licensed by the city. No person who has had his license
revoked for cause, shall be allowed to work as an apprentice
electrician, without the express consent of the board of
examiners. Each qualifying person making application to the
city electricial inspector shall be issued an apprentice
electrician working permit, and it shall be renewed from
time to time as shall be required for the journeyman
electricial license, as set out elsewhere in this article.
There shall be a charge of five dollars ($5.00) for each
permit and for each renewal thereof. The board of examiners
may suspend or revoke any apprentice electrician's working
permit for just and reasonable cause."
Section 2. That the existing Section 9-145(3) of the Salina Code is
hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from
and after December 31, 1974.
