ORDINANCE NUMBER 22-11138
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ANNEXATION AND ZONING OF
CERTAIN TRACTS OF LAND IN SALINE COUNTY, KANSAS IN CONFORMITY WITH
THE PROVISIONS OF K.S.A.12-519TO12-526, INCLUSIVE.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. Findings.
The following findings support the annexation of the property described in Section 2 by the City
of Salina:
1. The subject property was not included in the annexation of the former Schilling Air
Force Base in 1966.
2. Annexation is being initiated by the Governing Body in order to eliminate the twenty
foot gap in the city limit boundary adjacent to the Aero Plains Addition.
3. The subject property abuts the city limit boundary on all four sides and meets the
criteria for unilateral annexation under K.S.A. 12-520 (1) and (5).
4 . The owners of record of the subject property have consented in writing to its
annexation such that, pursuant to K.S.A. 12-520a(f), no resolution or notice and public
hearing is required as a prerequisite to its annexation.
Section 2. Annexation. The following described tract of land :
A tract of land located in part of the Northwest Quarter of the Southwest Quarter of Section 35,
Township 14 South, Range 3 West of the 6th Principal Meridian, Saline County, Kansas, said tract also
located inLot4 and Lot 5, Block 1, Schilling Subdivision No. 5, City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas,
more particularly described as follows:
Commencing at the Southwest comer of the Southwest Quarter of said Section 35;
Thence on an assumed bearing ofNorth 00° 04 ' 47" West on the west line of said Southwest Quarter, a
distance of 1628.31 feet to the point of beginning;
Thence South 89° 50' 27" East on a line parallel to the south line of said Southwest Quarter, a distance
of 25.91 feet to the west line of the disclaimed railroad right of way said west line also the east line of
said Block 1;
Thence North 00° 20' 34" West on said west line, a distance of 1018.76 to the north line of the
Southwest Quarter of said Section 35;
Thence South 89° 54' 49" West on the north line of said Southwest Quarter, a distance of21.22 feet to
the northwest comer of the Southwest Quarter of said Section 35;
Thence South 00° 04' 4 7" East on the west line of the Southwest Quarter of said Section 3 5, a distance
of 1018.64 feet to the point of beginning.
Said tract contains 0.55 acres more or less.
meets one or more of the classifications for annexation prescribed by K.S.A. 12-519 to 12-526,
inclusive , is hereby annexed and made a part of the City of Salina, Kansas.

Section 3. Zoning. The strip of land described in Section 2 above shall be classified as lying in an I-2
(Light Industrial) zoning district upon annexation which is consistent with its current zoning
classification.
Section 4. Repealer. That all prior ordinances in conflict herewith as they relate to the above described
real estate are hereby repealed.
Section 5. Summary of ordinance for publication. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption and publication once by summary in the official city newspaper.
Ordinance No. 22-11138 Summary
On December 19, 2022, the City of Salina, Kansas passed Ordinance No. 22-11138. The ordinance
annexes a 20 ft. strip ofland located on the east side of Centennial Road, north of Schilling Road which
includes a portion of Lot 4 and a portion of Lot 5 in Block 1 of Schilling Subdivision No. 5 into the city
limits and classifies the tract as lying in an I-2 (Light Industrial) zoning district consistent with its
