8708 Over ParkingORDINANCE NUMBER (Published in The Salina Journal A-110-012A 1979) AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE MANNER OF NOTIFICATION TO THE OPERATORS OF MOTOR VEHICLES WHO ARE OVERPARKED AND PROVIDING FOR THE MANNER AND PAYMENT OF THE PENALTY THEREFOR; AMENDING SECTION 22-190 OF THE SALINA CODE AND REPEALING THE EXISTING SECTION. BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That Section 22-190 of the Salina Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 22-190. Notice of violation; payment in lieu of penalt Each police officer shall attach to such vehicle a notice to the owner or operator thereof that such vehicle has been parked in violation of the provision of this article. Each such owner or operator may, within seventy-two (72) hours of the time when such notice was attached to such vehicle enclose said notice with one dollar ($1.00) and deposit the same in the courtesy fine collection box attached to certain parking meter posts or pay the same to the desk sergeant at the police station as a penalty for and in full satisfaction of such violation. If said penalty is not paid within seventy-two (72) hours of the time when such notice was attached to such vehicle the penalty for such violation shall be two dollars ($2.00), payable to the desk sergeant at the police station, the failure of such owner or operator to make such provision within said seventy-two (72) hours shall render said owner or operator subject to the penalties hereinafter provided for violation of the provisions of this article." Section 2. That the existing Section 22-190 of the Salina Code is hereby repealed. Section 3. The above amendment shall be in full force and effect from and after April 1, 1979. Section 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and publication once in the official city newspaper.
