Second reading of Ordinance No. 22-11126, levying special assessments against certain lots
and pieces of property to pay the cost of abatement of nuisances.
BACKGROUND:
Ordinance No. 22-11126 was passed on first reading on August 1, 2022. Since that time no
comments have been received.
FISCAL NOTE:
The total amount billed was $102,353.42, of which $35,578.25 has been paid, leaving an amount
$66,775.17 to be assessed.
COMMISSION ACTION OR RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff has identified the following options for the City Commission's consideration:
1.) Approve Ordinance No. 22-11126 on second reading.
2.) Approve Ordinance No. 22-11126 on second reading with amendments as the City
Commission deems appropriate.
3.) Postpone consideration of Ordinance No. 22-11126 on second reading to a specified date and
time and provide staff direction regarding additional information or amendments the City
Commission would like to request for their further consideration.
4.) Vote to deny Ordinance No. 22-11126 on second reading if it is not in the public's interest to
levy special assessments.

AN ORDINANCE LEVYING SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS AGAINST CERTAIN LOTS AND PIECES OF
PROPERTY TO PAY THE COST OF ABATEMENT OF NUISANCES ON CERTAIN LOTS AND
PARTS OF LOTS AND THE PARKWAYS ABUTTING THEREON IN THE CITY OF SALINA,
KANSAS.
WHEREAS, the Code Enforcement Officer of the City of Salina, Kansas, caused to be notified the owner of the
property herein described, to cause such nuisances to be removed; and
WHEREAS, the owner of the property hereinafter described, after proper notice, did not remove such nuisance in
accordance with Section 24-5 of the Salina Code, and the cost thereof has been ascertained, SO NOW,
THEREFORE
BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. There is hereby levied and assessed against each of the tracts of real estate described below, an
assessment for the purpose of paying the cost of removal of nuisances from the real estate taxable against each
