ORDINANCE NUMBER 85-9078
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING THE METHOD OF SERVICE OF NOTICE
FOR THE ABATEMENT OF A NUISANCE; AMENDING SECTION 24-7 OF THE
SALINA CODE AND REPEALING THE EXISTING SECTION.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina,
Kansas:
Section 1. That Section 24-7 of the Salina Code is hereby amended to
read as follows:
"Section 24-7. Service of notice.
The City Clerk shall issue a notice requiring the
owner or agent of the owner of the premises to remove
and abate from the premises the thing or things therein
described as a nuisance within a time, not exceeding
ten (10) days, to be specified in the notice. The
notice shall state that before the expiration of the
waiting period, the recipient thereof may request a
hearing before the Governing Body or its designated
representative. The notice shall be served by personal
service by delivering a copy thereof to the owner,
occupant or agent of such property, or if the same is
unoccupied and the owner is a nonresident, then by
mailing a notice by restricted mail to the last known
address of the owner."
Section 2. That the existing Section 24-7 is hereby repealed.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption and publication in the official city newspaper.
