Meeting was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners Morgenstern, Branson, Fern, Jackson and Mitchell and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of I+Iarch 13, 1939 were read and approved as read. Genevieve Katherine Nelson and D. A. Nelson filed a Replat of Lots 2, 3, 4 and 5, Mt. Barbara Park Addition. Same was referred to the City Planning Board. Plumber and Gas Fitter Bond was presented from Lewis Rea. Commissioner Jackson moved that same be approved by the Board of Commis- sioners. ILotion adopted. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making ap- propriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner 14itchell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Fern, Jackson ! and Prlitchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-13. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance authorizing the issuance of bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the sum of Forty -Light Thousand Dollars ($4£3,000.00) for the purpose, of taking up and refunding a like amount of outstanding bonded indebtedness of said City." i t On motion of Commissioner Fern the ordinance was read and adopt- ed by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: ltiorgenstern, Branson, Fern, Jackson and I#Iitchell (5) Hays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is num- bered 4930. A communication was received from H. B. Peatling asking permis- sion to operate a lunch room in the 800 block on North Ninth Street, south of Cox building. Commissioner Branson moved that same be tabled. Mayor 1ti1orgenstern submitted the name of Owen E. Hodgson as a member of the Welfare Board to fill vacancy caused by the resignation of W. S. Heusner. On motion of Commissioner Fern appointment was confirmed by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. Mayor Morgenstern submitted a list of Judges and Clerks of Election approved by him on March 16, 1939, to serve at the Primary Election of lViarch 27, 1939; and at the Regular City Election and School Bond Election of April 40 1939. Ford, Clerk of the District Court of Saline County, Kansas, in reference to judgment of Otis Kouns and Emma Kouns, in the matter of condemration and appropriation by the City of Salins., Kansas, of certain private property in the City of Salina, Kansas, for the purpose of opening, widening and extending certain public streets and highways insaid City.
