Meeting was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissione.'s Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and Mit- chell and City Attorney Norris responded. i The minutes of the Regular Meeting � o � of February 27, 1939 and Regular Meeting of March 3, 1939 were read and approved as read. Applications for taxicab drivers license received as follows: Loy A. Buchenau Robert F. Taylor_ Commissioner Ferm moved that applications be approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, t''erm, Jackson and I�litchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-10. City Engineer submitted Estimate No. 1 to H. J. TAylor Con- struction Company for the repair and reconstruction of East Ash Street Sewer, as per contract dated January 16, 1939. Commissioner 111it- chell moved that estimate be approved by the Board of Commissioners. I -lotion adopted. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making ap- propriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Jackson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and Mitchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-11. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making ap- propriation from the funds of the Water Department for the purchase of Temporary Note of the City of Salina, Kansas. On motion of Commissioner Branson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and r� the following vote was had; Ayes: orgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and Mitchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-12. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance directing the Mayor of the City of aalina, Kansas, to issue a proclamation or notice of election for the purpose of submitting to the electors of the City of Salus, Kansas, and territory attached thereto for school purposes, at the general city election to be held on the 4th day of April 1939, the question of issuing bonds in an amount not to exceed Three Hundred Thirty -Five Thousand Dol}a rs ($335,000.00) for the purpose of purchasing a site and constructing and equipping a high school building, and remodeling and equipping an existing high school building." On motion of Commissioner Branson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and litchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4929. Application of Kent Oil Company for approval of plans for stucco and frame filling station building and improvements at Lincoln and Broad way was received. Chas. Shaver and Rux Kent appeared in connection with the application and also made application for approval of overhead gasoline storage tanks to be constructed and used in connection with the proposed improvements. Commissioner Jackson moved that the plans and application be approved. Motion adopted. A petition was presented asking for the installation of water i main on Second 'street from Forrest Street to Pacific Street. Same was referred to the Waterworks Advisory Board. Ribble 9 Cormissioner Ferm moved that applications be approved by the Board of Cor.miissioners. Motion adopted. Letter was presented from Bon Hough, Fred R. Adams and A. D, Richter, in reference to Light and ower Plant, also form of petition. Same was read and ordered filed. Commissiore r Ferm moved that the City accept the offer of R. A. 1iearwin to convey to the City of Salina, Crypts No. 476, 477, 576 and 577 in Hillcrest Mausoleum, now owned by R. A. Rearwin, previously sold to him by the Mausoleum Builders Corporation at the list price of X1500.00, and to pay to the City an additional sum in cash of $1300.00, for a conveyance of Crypts now owned by the City of Salim descriTmed as Crypts No. 1, 2, 3, and 4 in DeLuxe Section "H;' list price X700.00 per crypt, a total of $2800.00,said crypts to be deeded as follows as requested by R. A. nearwin: Nos. 1 and 2 to Leila Rearwin for burial of H. H. F. Suden- dorf and Carrie A. Sudendorf; No. 3 to Leila Rearwin, and No. 4 to R. A. nearwin, all in DeLuxe Section "H", and that the Mayor be authorized to sign deeds, the same to be delivered on receipt by the City Clerk of .1300.00 in cash, and conveyance of said Crypts No. 476; 477, 576 and 577 to the City of Salina. motion adopted and Mayor signed said deeds.
