Resolution 22-8056 amending fees in the 2022 Comprehensive Fee Schedule related to Ambulance
Fees.
BACKGROUND:
The City of Salina provides Emergency Medical Services to patients through the Fire Department.
After services are provided, staff bills the patient's medical insurance provider (if applicable) for the
services rendered. The amount to be billed for specific services is set through the City's
Comprehensive Fee Schedule.
The 2022 Comprehensive Fee Schedule was approved by City Commission on August 23, 2021
Allowable rates are the dollar amount that is considered payment in full by a particular insurance
provider for a particular service. These allowable rates are periodically changed due to the changing
cost of services. EMS billing staff reviews the allowable rates of the major insurance providers and
recommends a rate that will capture the highest rate possible for the City of Salina.
Based upon the most recent review of insurance provider allowable rates, the following changes are

The recommended rates will provide for the City to bill the charges that are currently allowed.
COMMISSION ACTION OPTIONS:
1) Approve Resolution 22-8056 amending Emergency Medical Service fees in the 2022
Comprehensive Fee Schedule.
2) Approve Resolution 22-8056 with amendments as the City Commission deems appropriate.
Postpone approval of Resolution 22-8056 to a specified date and time and provide staff direction
regarding additional information or amendments the City Commission would like to request for
their further consideration.
3) Vote to deny Resolution 22-8056 leaving EMS fees as previously approved.
Staff recommends Option #1.

A RESOLUTION AMENDING ARTICLE IV OF THE COMPREHENSIVE FEE SCHEDULE
OF THE CITY OF SALINA, KANSAS AS IT SETS THE CHARGES FOR EMERGENCY
MEDICAL SERVICE (EMS) FEES
WHEREAS, the City of Salina's 2022 Comprehensive Fee Schedule was approved by the Governing
Body on August 23, 2021 with fee changes effective January 1, 2022; and
WHEREAS, Finance staff have been reviewing allowable charges for EMS by insurance providers, SO
NOW, THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. Article IV of the Comprehensive Fee Schedule as it sets the following EMS charges:

Section 2. The amended EMS charges shall be effective July 1, 2022.
Section 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
