Meeting was called to order by Mayor Idorgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and 1'4itchell and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 30, 1939 were read and approved as read. Applications for taxicab drivers license for the year 1939 received as follows: Pd. C. Kerns Leonard Henry, Fred Hollis Harold L. Kizer - Ralph E. Dolton- Commissioner olton Commissioner Ferm moved that applications be approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. f A petition was presented asking for the installation of a White '"day on Santa Fe Avenue from Elm Street to Pacific - Street and west on Pacific to Ninth Street. Ordered filed. A letter was r eceived from W. B. McMickle asking permission to operate a taxicab in the City of Salina, Kansas, and W. B. McMickle appeared in person in support of such request. On motion of Commis- sioner Fern application was held over for one week. Carried. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for the payment cf certain clairas." i On motion of Commissioner kitchell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson, Mitchell (5)"Nays.' (0) lv.ayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-7. c Application was received from Oscar M. Wilbur for compromise of taxes on Lot No. 18, Block 1, Riverside Park Addition, for years 1932 to 1937, both inclusive, for the sum of 0127.63, in compromise of taxes amounting to $156.80 for 1937 and for all prior years. Commis- sioner Branson moved that application for compromise be approved, and that' the City Clerk be authorized to certify same to the County Clerk. Mo- tion adopted. Commissioner Ferm moved that Del Robertson and James Stack be reappointed as members of the Plumbing Examining Board for the current year. Mr. VV. S. Heusner submitted his resignation as a member of the Salina Public Library Board and The Salina Welfare Board as follows: 1' Salina, Kansas. January 23, 1939. Mr. Ed Ikorgenstern, Honorable Iviayor, Salina, Kansas. My dear 4r. ?yiorgenstern: My attention has been drawn to the fact that officially I still am a member of The Salina Public Library Board, and The Salina Welfare Board. I am afraid that, dueto my illness, I have not been a very efficient public servant, in either of these connections, of late. Because it does not seem likely that I will be ready to assume the responsibility of membership on either of those Boards in the near future, please accept my resignation from each. Prescott as members of the Salina Public Library Board for a term of four years from February 1, 1939. On motion of Commission- er Branson appointments were confirmed by the Board of Commissioners. i'diotion adopted. Mayor Morgenstern submitted the name of Fred Stevenson as a member of the Salina Public Library Board to fill vacancy caused by the resignation of W. S. Heusner. On motion of Commissioner Branson appointment was confirmed by the Board of Commissioners. "lotion adopted. Mayor i-lorgenstern submitted the following names as members of the Board of Trustees of the Salina Municipal Band: C. H. Gawthrop for a term of 1 year from January 1, 1939 J. F. Grosser, Sr. for a term of 2 years from January 1, 1939 Rudolph Morgenstern for a term of 3 years from January 1, 1939 On motion of Commissioner Branson appointments were confirmed by the Board of Commissioners.
