COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS
OCTOBER 10, 1938.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners October 10,
1938. Meeting; was called to order by Acting Mayor Jackson, the roll
was called and Commissioners Jackson, Branson, erm and Mitchell aria
City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner Morgenstern absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of October 3, 1938 were
read and approved as read.
Anderson Commission Company asked for permission to construct
steps in front of their place of business at 220 East Ash Street. Com-
missioner Ferm moved that request be granted. Motion adopted.
Applications for taxicab drivers license for the balance of
1938 received from:
Ben F. Brown
Clyde Osburn
On motion of Commissioner Ferm applications were approved
by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted,
Automobile endorsement was received cancelling insurance
on taxicab owned by Richard Green. City Clerk was instructed to
notify Mr. Green of such cancellation.
A petition was presented asking for the paving of Jewell
Avenuef rom Santa Fe Avenue to Fourth Street. Same was ordered filed.
'A etition was presented asking for the paving of Jewell
Avenue from Eanta Fe Avenue to Obborne Street. Same was ordered filed.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A
resolution relating to the paving and grading of Jewell Avenue from
the east line of Santa Fe -',.venue to the west lire of 09borne treet."
Same was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
A etition was presented asking for the paving of Franklin
Street from �-enth Street to Eleventh Street. Sarre was ordered filed.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A
Resolution relating to the paving and grading of, Franklin Street from
the east line of Tenth street to the east line of leventh Street.
Same was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering and grading of Des Moines
Avenue from the north line of Ash street to the south line of Elm
Street; Clark street from the north line of Walnut Street to the south
line of Marietta Avenue; Republic Avenue from the east line of Eleventh
Street to the west line of Sherman treef; Eighth street from the north
line of Pacific Avenue to the north line of harsh Street; Delaware Aven-
ue from the south line of Iron Avenue to the center line of Zrohnstown
Xvenue; Johnstown Avenue from the east line of Columbia Avenue to the
east line of Kansas Avenue; Oakdale Avenue from the south line of
Johnstown venue to the south line of Ash street; Kansas Avenue from the
south line of Iron J --venue to the north line of Gypsum venue; enth
Street from the north line of Frost Street to the north line of ank-
li�nue and Merrill Street from the south line of Crawford Street to
the north line -7f Filson Street, and providing for the cost of such im-
provements and how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment
thereof." Same was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
A request was received asking to place the sidewalk on the
west side of Delaware Street from Iron Avenue to Johnstown,iivenue, four
feet from the lot line. On motion of Commissioner Ferm request was
granted. motion adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
