Regular meeting of the Board of Cor=-iissioners September 12, 1938. T.Ieeting was called to order by Mayor i'+lorgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioriers il�orgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and ivlit- chell and City Attorney Norris responded. i The minutes of the Regular Meeting of September 6, 1938 were read and approved as read. H & L Theatre Operating Company requested permission to erect a neon sign over marquee in front of Vogue Theatre, extending ten feet i into the street from the property line. Commissioner Jackson moved that the request be denied, and that any sign erected be required to conform to the sign ordinance. Motion adopted. Electrician's 1i1unicipal Bond received from H & L Theatre Oper��ting Company. Same was approved by the Board of COMMissioners. i Lr. 'Dehmer appeared before the Board of Commissioners in opposition to curbing and guttering Merrill Street from `;Jilson Street to itepiiblic A venue . i Ted Keinhardt asked permission to construct a sheet metal ex. - tension to building located at Twelfth and Ash Street, by enclosing the present open canopy, and to erect steel tanks on steel standards north I and east of said building. On motion of Commissioner Ferm the request was granted. On motion, taxicab insurance was reinstated on the follow- ing taxicabs; new insurance endorsements having been filed: Cab No. 20 owned by Everett W. Jukes Cab No. 24 owned by Vernon L. Jensen. On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the City of Salina vlater Department was authorized to purchase from the City of Salina, 4'?31,000.00 Refu�id.ing Bonds, dated January 1, 1938, at a price of par and accrued interest. kotion adopted. On motion of Commissioner Branson the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: ivlorgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and Mitchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 741. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A resolution relating to the paving and grading of 1,unston Street from the north line of Republic Avenue to the north line of Sunset Drive, and I for the curbing and guttering of that portion of said street bdtween such limits not now curbed and guttered." On motion of Commissioner Branson the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had: Ayes: "orgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and ►v'Litchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 742. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the paving and grading of PershinEStreet from the south line of Sunset Drive to the north line of Jewell Street." On motion of Commissioner Branson the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and Mitchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 743, The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 103, Resolution Book Number 3. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A resolution relating to the paving and grading of the unpaved portion of Broadway Boulevard, being the public street opened and created as and for U. S. No. 81 By-pass by Resolution No. 669, and proceedings had pursuant thereto, on each side of the paving constructed thereon by the State Highway Commission, from the west line of Ninth Street, at the intersection of Ninth and Pacific Streets, 39782 feet southwesterly, along the center line of said street to a point 248 feet south of the south line of North Street." On motion of Commissioner Branson the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the f ollowin vote was had; Ayes: Jackson, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and Mitchell5) I Nays: (0) 1v4ayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 744. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A resolution relating to the paving and grading of Eleventh Street from the north line of Frost Street to the south line of Franklin Street." Same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first rea ing entitled: "A resolution relating to the paving and grading of Oakdale Drive (runnirg east and west) from the west line of Oakdale Avenue, thence west one block along and adjacent to the south side of Cunningham's Replat of Block 151, Oakdale Addition to the east line of Oakdale: Drive (running north and south)."
