08-29-1938 Minutes346 COI1,11ISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COP+iMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. AUGUST 29, 1938. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners August 29, 1938. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners 1.1orgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and 'Witchell and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 22, 1938 were read and approved as read. A petition was presented asking for the curbing and guttering of Eighth Street from Pacific Avenue to Harbh Street Street. Same was granted. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A resolution relating to the curbing, guttering and grading Eighth Street from the north line of Pacific Avenue to the north line of Harsh Street.rr On motion of Commissioner Ferm the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and Mitchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the r esolution and it is numbered 734. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A resolution relating to the curbing, guttering and grading Delaware Avenue from the south line of Iron Avenue to the center line of Johns- town On motion of Commissioner Ferm the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and Mitchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 735. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A resolution relatirg to the curbing, guttering and grading Merrill Street from the south line of Crawford Avenue to the south line of Republic Avenue." On motion of Commissioner Ferm the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern., Branson, Ferm, Jackson and Mitchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 736. On motion of Commissioner Perm the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and Mitchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 738. On motion of Commissioner Ferm the resolution was adopted as read and on its finaladoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and Mitchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 739. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 990 Resolution Book Yunber 3. j A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A resolution relating tot he curbing, guttering and grading_ Tenth Street from the north line of Frost Street to the north line of Franklin Street." On motion of Commissioner Ferm the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was c alled and the following vote was had; Ayes: "'orgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and Mitchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 740. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 100 Resolution Book Number 3. City Engineer submitted Final Estimate of Cost for the con- struction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers numbered 17, 158, 1750 1760 177 and 178; and Storm Sewer Number 10-B. On motion of Commissioner Jackson the above mentioned Estimates were approved by the Board of Commissioners. tlotion adopted. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of constructing Lateral Sanitary Sewers in Lateral Sani- tar7 Sewer Districts numbered 17, 158, 1750 1762 177 and 178, and relat- ing to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." Same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Notice was received of the cancellation of Taxicab Policy issued to Vernon L. Jensen. City Clerk was instructed to notify Mr. Jensen of such cancellation." Motion adopted. A petition was presented asking for the curbin and guttering of Eighth Street from Woodland Avenue to Pacific Avenue. Same was ordered filed. The following application for Cereal Malt Beverage License was presented: _ GENERAL RETAIIE R CLASS "A" INDIVIDUAL Application No. Name of Applicant Name & Location of Place of Business 67 C. Carlson Tip Top Cafe 312 E. Pacific Commissiore r Ferm moved that application be approved by the Board of Commissioners, and that the City Clerk be instructed to issue license to said applicant. Motion adopted. Complaint was received against the operation of a taxi stand on the corner of Santa Fe Avenue and Beloit Avenue. Same wasr eferred to the City Attorney for action.
