AUGUST 81 1938.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners August 8th,
1938. Meeting was called to order by Acting Iayor Jackson, the roll
was called and Commissioners Branson, Ferm, Jackson and Mitchell and
City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner 1.1orgenstern absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 1, 1938 were read
and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation from the Relief Highway Fund for the payment of certain
claims."
On motion of Commissioner Branson the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the followin vote was had: Branson, Ferm, Jackson and Mitchell
(4) Nays: 0) Commissioner Iwiorgenstern absent. Acting Mayor ap-
proved the ordinance and it is numbered 4892.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation from the General Improvement Fund in the City Treasury
for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Branson the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote w�s had; Ayes: Jackson, Branson, Ferm and
laitchell (4) Nays: (0 Commissioner Morgenstern absent. Acting i
L'ayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4893.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
ordinance levying special assessments against certain property to
pay the cost of constructing certain water service pipes in certain
streets in the City of Salina, Kansas." Same was referred to the
Board of Comr::issioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
ordinance levying special assessments against certain property to pay
the cost of cutting weeds on certain lots and parts of lots, and the j
parkways abutting taereon in the City of Salina." Same was re-
ferred to the Board of Commissioners.

Trust Deed, with a deposit of '375.00 for perpetual care of
North 1/2 of Lot 18, Block 17, Gypsum Hill Cemetery of Salina, Kansas,
was received from ?°. 7.1. Brown, Administrator of H. I. Sigler, estate.
Commissioner Fern moved that Trust Deed be accepted by the
Board of Commissioners and that the City Treasurer be instructed to
place the deposit in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery Endowment Fund as pro-
vided by Ordinance Number 3530 of the City of Salina, Kansas. 11otion
adopted.
Applications for taxicab drivers license for the balance of
1938 received from:
Ernest Iv'cCall and Frank A. Miller.
Commissioner Branson moved that taxicab drivers application
received from Ernest I.IcCall be granted by the Board of Commissioners;
and that application received from Frank A. Pviiller be rejected by the
Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
A petition was presented asking for the construction of a
Sanitary Sewer in the alley between Tenth Street and Eleventh Street
from the present sewer on Pacific Avenue north to Harsh Avenue. Same
was referred to the City Engineer.
A petition was presented asking for the curbing and guttering
of Tenth Street from Frost Street to Franklin Street. Same was re-
ferred to the City Engineer.
City Engineer filed plans and specifications and estimate of
cost for repair and reconstruction of certain portions of a certain
sewer in Ash Street in the City of Salina, Kansas, and of a certain
portion of the sewage flow line connecting the sewage purlping station
at the terminus of said Ash Street sewer and the sewage disposal plant.
On motion of Commissioner Ferm same were adopted and ap_nroved
by the Board of Commissioners and the City Clerk was instructed to
advertise for bids for such improvements to be received up to and
including Tvonday, August 22, 1938 at 4:30 P. 1,11. Lotion adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
