Ninth Street On motion of Commissioner Jackson the above application was ap- proved by the Board of Commissioners and the City Clerk was instructed to issue license to said applicant. Motion adopted. Mrs E. S. Hampton appeared before the Board of Commissioners and asked permission for Joe Morris to continue his plumbing business j until his case could be decided in District Court. Commissioner Branson moved that request be denied. Motion adopted. Attorney, Arthur B. Dillingham asked permission to withdraw petition presented to the Board of Commissioners July 11, 19380 by 11irs. _ Elsie Mcl:ickle, asking permission to establish a taxi company in the City of Salina, Kansas. Request granted. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance directing the Mayor of the City of Salina, Kansas to issue a proclamation or notice of election for the purpose of submitting to the electors of the City of Salina, Kansas, and territory attached thereto for school purposes, at a Special Election to be held on the 30th day of August 1938, the question of issuing bonds in an amount not to exceed Three Hundred Seventy -Five Thousand Dollars ($3750000.00) for the purpose of purchasing a site and constructing and equipping a High School Build- ing.' Same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Aetition was p presented asking for the paving of Sheridan Street from Crawford Avenue to Republic Avenue, and Funston Avenue from Republic Avenue to Sunset Drive. Referred to the City Engineer. A petition was presented asking for the curbing and gutteringj of Oakdale Avenue from Johnstotim Avenue to Ash Street. Referred to the City Engineer. Applications for taxicab drivers license for the balance of 1938 received as follows: Richard B. Largent _ Floyd E. Bliss John W. Stowell On motion of Commissioner Jackson applications were approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. A protest was received against any change in the present two-- hour parking limit on Santa Fe Avenue from Ash Street to Elm Street. Same was ordered filed. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance repealing Ordinance Number 4883 relating to the repair and reconstruction of a certain portion of a certain sewer in Ash 6treet.1' Referred to the Board of Commissioners. 325 An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the repair and reconstruction portions of certain sewer in Ash Street in of certain the City of Salina of a certain portion of the sewage flow line pumping station at the termin and connecting the sewage s of said Ash Street disposal plant and providing for the payment sewer and the sewage of the cost of such improvements by the City at large and for the Improvement Bonds issuance of General of said Board of Commissioners.
