Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners June 13, 1938.
Meeting was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called
and Commissioners Morgenstern, Branson, Perm, Jackson and Mitchell and
City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 7, 1938 were read
and approved as read.
Mr. F. C. Branson appeared before the Board of Commissiore rs;
in regard to the roof sign to be placed on building located at 144
j North Santa Fe "venue. Commissioner Perm moved that if the Building
Inspector approved the sign to be safe that same be granted. Motion
adopt ed.
! City Engineer= submitted the following report and final esti-
mate in reference to completion of the Southern Heights Sanitary Sewage
Pumping Plant:
Salina, Kansas, June 13, 1938.
Hon. Mayor and Board of City Commissioners,
Salina,
Kansas.
Gentlemen:
The H. J. Taylor Construction Company has
completed improvements to the Southern Heights Sani-
tary Sewage Pumping Plant as set forth in their con-
tract of April 4, 1938.
As your City Engineer I have checked the above
! mentioned work and find that the job has been completed
in compliance with the contract and recommend that this
work be acceted and the contractor be paid the final
estimate of 15,371.'31 as shown on the accompanying
final estimate.

On motion of Commissioner Jackson the report was adopted
by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation from the Sewer Fund for the payment of a certain
i claim."
On motion of Commissioner Perm the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; A es: Morgenstern, Branson, Perm, Jack-
son and Branson (5) Nays: (0 Mayor approved the ordinance and it is
numbered 4876.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation from the funds of the Water Department for the purchase
of a Temporary Note of the City of Salina."
On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the ordinance wasr ead and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll wasealled and
i the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Perm, Jackson
and Mitchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is
numbered 4877.
A petition was presented asking for the curbing and guttering
of Kansas Avenue from Iron Avenue to Gypsum Avenue. Same was referred
to the City Engineer.
The appraisers reports for the construction of:
Lateral Sanitary Sewer No. 17 located in the alley between
Seventh and Eighth 6treets, from Pacific Avenue to the alley north of
Grand revenue;

Lateral Sanitary Sewer No. 158 located in Merrill Street
between Venango Street and Republic venue;
Lateral Sanitary Sewer No. 175 located in alley between
Kansas Avenue and Des Moines Avenue from -the manhole approximately 375
feet north of Elm Street to Riverside Drive;
Lateral ">anitary_Sewer No. 176 located in alley between
Columbia venue and Kansas Avenue, south of Gypsum avenue;
Lateral Sanitary Sewer No. 177 located on Pacific avenue from
alley lying between Ninth and Tenth treets to alley between Tenth and
Eleventh from Pacific to alley north of Grand Avenue; and
Lateral Sanitary Sewer !'To. 178' located in Sherman Street from.
Venango Street to 1,rawford Avenue, were received and on motion of Commis-
sioner Ferm, Monday, June 20, 1938 at 4:30 P. M. wasd esignated as a
Special Meeting at which time the reports will be taken up and acted on
by the Board of Commissioners, and that the City C]eerk publish notice
of such meeting inthe official City paper as provided by law. Motion
adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Jackson the City Clerk was instructed
to advertise for the sale of $44,373.31 Street Improvement Bonds and
$7310.04 Sewer Improvement Bonds, dated May 1, 1938, bearing interest
at the rate of two per cent (2%) per annum; bids to be received up to
and including Monday, June 27, 1938 at 4:30 P. M. Motion adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Ferm the Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
