06-07-1938 Minutes299 COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. 11 1 1 Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners June 7, 1938. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and Mitchell and City Attorney Norris responded. i The minutes of the Regular Meeting of Ylay 31, 1938 were read and approved ad read. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "A.n ordinance providing for and authorizing the settlement and compromise of certain controversies existing between the City of Salina, Kansas, and the Union Pacific Railroad Company and the Atchsion, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad Company arising out of the assessment of benefits against the properties of said railroad. companies in connection with the condemnation of certain lands inlaid City." On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes; Morgenstern, Branson, Perm, Jackson and Mitchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4873. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making ai appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Ferm the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and Mitchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4874. The following claim to be paid from Relief highway Fund was presented for payment: Chas. E. Banker, City Clerk,, Cash paid out for labor $302.00 Commissioner Ferm moved that claim be approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation from the Relief 'lighway Fund for.the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Jackson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;. Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Fermq Jackson and Mitchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4875. City Engineer submitted plans and specifications and estimate of cost for the curbing and guttering of: Clark 'street from the south line of Walnut Street to the north line of Spruce 6treet7 Columbia Avenue from the south line of Iron Avenue to the noxh line of Gypsum venue; Front Street from the north line of Iron Avenue to the south line of AshStreet; Kirwin Avenue from the west line of Santa Fe Avenue to the east line o ighland venue; Seventh Street from the north line of Pacific Street to the south line of Harsh Street; and for the paving of _a_l_l_ey lying between Santa Fe Avenue and Fifth Street from the north line o-YaV9alnut Street to the south line of Mulberry Street. On motion of Commissioner Ferm same were approved by the Boaxd of Commissioners and the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids for such work to be received up and including Monday, June 20, 1938 at 4:30 P. M. Motion adopted. 3�Q Mayor Morgenstern submitted the name of Mrs. E. G. Pad- field as a member of the Welfare Board for a term of five years from May 21, 1938. On motion of Commissioner Branson appointment was confirmed by the Board of Commissioners. A petition was presented asking that the use of motor boats be restricted from the area north of the boat docks which are located at the end of South Street. Same was ordered filed. On motion of Commissioner Jackson the Board of Commission- ers adjourned. City Clerk
