' Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners May 23, 1938.
fleeting was called to order by Mayor ii-orgenstern, the roll was called
and Commissioners Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm and I'oitchell and City
Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner Jackson absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 16, 1938 were
read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the curbing and guttering azid grading of
Seventh Street from the north line of Pacific Street to the south
line of harshStreet; Clark Street from the south line of Walnut
Street to the north line of SFruce Street; Columbia Avenue from the
south line of Iron Avenue to the north line of Gypsur, venue; Front
Street from the north line of Iron Avenue to the south line of Ash
Street;; Kirwin Avenue from the west line of Santa Fe venue to the
east line of highland venue; and for the paving and grading of the
alley lying between Santa Fe Avenue and Fifth Street from the south
line of ','Jalnut Street to the north line of Mulberry Street, and pro-
viding for the cost of such improvements and how the same shall be
assessed and the manner of payment thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Kitchell the ordinance was read
and adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was 4ad; Ayes: 1orgenstern, Branson, Ferm
and Mitchell (4) Nays: (OJ Commissioner Jackson absent. Mayor
approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4868.
A petition was presented asking for the curbing and guttering
of Delaware Street from Iron Avenue to Johnstown Avenue. Same was
referred to the Gity Engineer.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for and authorizing the issuance of Improve-
ment Bonds in the City of Salina, KansAs, in the sum of $44,373.31
to pay the cost of improviding certain streets insaid City to be
designated as Series P-118." Same was referred to the Board of
Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for and authorizing the issuance of Improve-
ment Bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the sum of w7,310.04
to pay the cost of constructing certain lateral sanitary sewers in
the City of Salina, Kansas, which bonds shall be designated as Series
S-119." Same was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance amending Section 2 of Ordinance No. 4804 relating to
and requiring examinations and certificates for plumbers and repealing
original Section 2 of said ordinance." Same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
Mayor Vorgenstern submitted the names of Elmer Barr, Gi lbertGee ry
IV. R. Leighton as members of the City Planning Board, for a term of
three years from May 1, 1938. Moved by Commissioner Branson that
appointments be confirmed by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopt-
ed.
On motion of Commissioner Ferm the Board of Commissioners
adjourned to meet in regular session Tuesday, May 31, 1938 at 4:30
P.Y Y. , on account of Monday, May 30th, being a legal holiday.
