05-16-1938 MinutesG 1 1 1 2 N 3 COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners May 16, 1938. Meeting was called to order by Mayor "lorgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson, and Mitchell and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 9, 1938 were read and approved as read. Mrs. Clarence Johnson appeared before the Board of Commissioners and asked permission to move refreshment stand from 1510 South Ninth Street to the 600 Block on North Santa Ve Avenue. Commissioner Branson moved that permission be granted. Motion adopted. L. H. Nelson appeared before the Board of Commission rs and asked for permission to change location of his Beer License from 124 South Fifth Street to 114 North Fifth Street. On motion of Commissioner Jackson permission was granted by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance appropriat= ing and transfe ring certain money from the Waterworks Department Fund to IV. P. A. Project Number 6595 Account." On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its finaladoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and Mitchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4865. A resolution was introduced entitled: "A Resolution relating to issuance of Temporary Note in the amount of 42500.00, (W. P. A. Project No. 6595 Account.)" On motion of Commissioner Branson the resolution was adopted as read and on its final a doption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and Mitchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 724. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 84 of Resolution Book Number 3. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and Mitchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4866. The following claims to be paid from Relief uighway Fund were presented for payment: Chas. E. Banker, City Clerk, Cash paid out for labor $264.63 Salina Street Department Gasoline, Kerosene and Oil 72.12 Total - - - -- - - - --336.75 On motion of Commissioner Ferm claims were approved by the Board of Commissioners. kotion adopted. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation from the Relief Highway Fund for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Ferm the ordinance was read and adopt- ed by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and Mitchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is num- bered 4867. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A resolution relating to the curbing, guttering and grading Clark Street from the north line of Walnut Street to the south line of Marietta vents" 224 i I, I On motion of Commissioner Branson the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and Mitchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 725. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 85 of Resolu- tion Book Number 3. Applications for taxicab drivers license for the year 1938 received as follows: Harold F. Manning Jake -�'orter Arnold W. Saum On motion of Commissioner Ferm applications were approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. A petition was presented asking for the paving of Highland Circle and Republic Avenue from Beloit Avenue north around the Circle to Republic Avenue and continuing on Republic Avenue to the west curb of Sherman Street and east curb of Pershing Street; and for curbing and guttering north side of Republic Avenue from the curb and gutter to the east side of Sherman Street extending east on Republic as far as necessary to connect with pavement. Same was referred to the City Engineer. A petition was presented asking for the extension of water mains on Front Street from Forrest to Pacific. Same was referred to the Waterworks Advisory Board. Bids for Waterworks Pump received as follows: Worthington Pump & Machinery Company American Well Works Layne -Western Company Commissioner Ferm moved that contract be awarded to Layne - Western Company, the lowest, responsible bidder. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing and guttering and grading of Seventh Street from the north line of Pacific Street to the south line of Harsh Street; Clark Street from the south line of Walnut Street to the north line of Spruce Street; Columbia Avenue from the south line of Iron Avenue to the north line of Gypsum venue; Front Street from the north line of Iron Avenue to the south line of Ash greet; Kirwin Avenue from the west line of Santa Fe Avenue to the eastline of highland venue; and for the paving and grading the alley lying between Santa Fe Avenue and Fifth Street from the south line of Walnut Street to the north line of Mulberry Street, and providing for the cost of such improvements and how the same shall be assessed and the mance r of payment thereof." Same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Ferm the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
