03-21-1938 Minutes276 278 COZ.,5iISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. MARCH 21, 1938. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners March 21, 1938. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and Mitchell and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 14, 1938 were read and approved as read. Chas. TI. Shaver appeared before the Board of Commissioners and asked permission to move the house located at 415 West Iron Aven- ue to 125 South Twelfth Street. Commissioner Ferm moved that permis- sion be granted. "Aotion adopted. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance amending sub -section (c) of Section 2 of Ordinance No. 4693 relating to certain license taxes and repealing said original sub- section. rr On motion of Commissioner Jackson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Zackson and Mitchell (4) Nays: Ferm (1) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4850. Application for taxicab 'drivers license for the year 1938 was received as follows: Russell E. Pruitt. On motion of Commissioner Branson application was approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. The following application for Cereal Malt Beverage License was presented: GENERAL RETAILER CLASS "B" INDIVIDUAL Application No. Name of Applicant_ Name & Location of Place o usiness 58 0. R. Benwell Top Hat Tavern 225 North Santa Fe Ave. On motion of Commissioner Jackson application was approved by the Board of Commissioners and the City Clerk was instructed to issue license to said applicant. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance amending Section 29, Section 31 and Section 58 of Ordinance No. 4476, relating to and regulating the use and operation of ve- hicles on the streets of the City of Salina and repealing said origin- al sections." Same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. G. N. (Bud) Dye asked permission to operate a popcorn stand on the south side of Ash Street between Santa Fe Avenue and Seventh Street. Commissioner Ferm moved that permission be granted. Motion adopted. City Engineer submitted plans and specifications and estimate of cost for the construction of Storm Sewers No. 10-B and No. 10-C in the City of Salina, Kansas. On motion of Commissioner Ferm same were approved by the Board of Commissioners and the City Clerk was in- structed to advertise for bids for such work, bids to be received up to and including Monday, klarch 28, 1938 at 4:30 P. M. Motion adopted. City Engineer submitted plans and specifications and estimate of cost for the construction, reconstruction, improvement and enlarge- ment of the sewage pumping station located at Sherman Street and"Nilson Street in the City of Salina, Kansas. On motion of Commissioner Jack - son same were approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. 2�9 On motion of Commissioner Branson the City Clerk was instruct- ed to advertise for bids for the construction, reconstruction, improve- ment and enlargement of sewage pumping station located at Sherman Street and Wilson Stre::t, bids to be received up to and including Mon- day, April 4, 1938 at 4:30 P. M. Motion adopted. a ? Mayor or enstern submitted the names of John Frederick, E. D. Carl Idartin and L. J�. to act as appraisers in ascertaining the valua- tion of certain lots and pieces of ground liable to special assessment for the cost of constructing Lateral aanitary Sewers Plumber 17, 1580 i i 175, 176, 177 and 178.
