COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING.
COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS
DECEMBER 30, 1937.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners December 30,
1937. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll
was called and Commissioners Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and
Mitchell and City Attorney Norris responded.
Commissioner Branson moved that taxicab drivers application
received from Robert J. Smith December 27, 1937 and rejected by the
Board of Commissioners, be reconsidered and that a 1938 license be
granted. Motion adopted*
Trust Deed, with a deposit of $100.00 for theperpetual
care of the North 1/2 of Lot 25, Block 1, in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery
of Salina, Kansas, received from the National Bank of America for
C. Wo Dopp. Commissioner Farm moved that Trust Deed be accepted by
the Board of Commissioners and that the City Treasurer be instructed
to place the deposit in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery Endowment Fund as
provided by Ordinance No. 3530 of the City of Salina, Kansas, Motion
adopted.
The following recommendation was zeceived from the Waterworks
Advisory Board:
A Special Meeting of the Waterworks Ad-
visory Board was held at the National Bank of
America at 3:30 P.M. December 28, 1937, with the
following members present: Roy F. Bailey, Chairman,
Chas. Wo Shaver, Leon Stevenson, R. Co Gebhart,
E. W. Hopkins, City Engineer and H. L. Brown
Secretary.
The meeting was called for the purpose of
considering the installation of two addition- j
• al wells to provide additional water supply.
After considerable discussion and due
consideration relative to the present well supply
and its maximum capacity knd following the
investigation carried on during the past summer
with reference to the results of test borings
taken at various locations in the City, a motion
was made by Mr. Shaver that two new wells be in-
stalled, one to be located near the present County
Administration building in Kenwood Park, and
another to be installed in the vicinity of Stapler
and Ohio Streets to be pumped directly into the
distribution system at that point. These wells to
be equipped with pump6, wells and the necessary
flow lines and power transmission lines. This
motion was seconded by Mr. sebhart and the vote
taken was unanimous,
No further business appearing the meeting
adjourned.

On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the above report was
adopted by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
Commissioner Jackson moved that the contract for two new wells
be awarded to the Layne -Western Company, the lowest bidder. Motion
adopted.

Commissioner Mitchell moved that the license on Music Machines
be not changed. Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced on first reading entitled: "An
ordinance relating to and fixing the salaries and wages of certain
officers and employees of the City of Salina." Same was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.
On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
